Fw: Leaders Rely On God

Today in the One Year Playbook we find Asa had a very successful kingdom for 35 years.

In year 36 - 41 Asa began to rely on other things besides God. For 35 years he had great success then it all fell apart.

The early compromises were catching up to Asa. Asa was compromising on the "little things." After a while the "little things" took over and became big things.
Asa compromised by tearing down some but not all the High Places. The High Places were the Pagan Temples. This was the place where the people committed Idolatry. This was the Place where they worshiped Baal, Ashtoreth and Molech. Basically they worshiped Satan.

Asa also made a Treaty with the enemy. He relied on Syria for strength instead of God.

After 35 years of great Victories Asa decided to rely on other things besides God.

These compromises were the spark that led to a huge fire in Asa's life.

Maybe he was bitter at God because he had a problem with his legs. Maybe he was bitter at God because he had diabetes.

In the end bitterness, pride, anger and resentment swelled up so much that he was too stubborn to call on God. He went from a Joyful person to a depressed angry person. He ended up dying a miserable man.

"Pride goes before destruction!"

Sometimes life is tough. Satan wants to derail us and take us from relying on God to other things. Satan tries to tell us that God isn't fair. If God was fair He wouldn't allow this sickness in our life.

God didn't promise a life without circumstances but He did promise to help us through the tough times. When we have Victory we will be stronger. A lot of times we will be able to help others that are going through the same thing and give them hope.

Friends, are there areas in our life where we feel cheated? Are we mad at God? Are we starting to compromise? Are there areas we need to tear down? Are we making treaties with the enemy? Are we taking our eyes off of God and relying on everything but God?

It all comes from a root of bitterness.
A root of bitterness will rob our joy and destroy our confidence. The enemy wants to rip us off.

God has a better plan.

"For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."
2 Chronicles 15:9

Leaders Rely on God to Finish Strong!
