Today in the One Year Playbook we see a young arrogant college graduate who thinks he knows everything. Elihu was a spoiled College Grad who had no respect for anyone.
Elihu was very judgmental and harsh with his words. A lot of what He is saying is true but it comes across with arrogance and piety.
God is just. God is not mocked. Whatever we sow we will reap. This is all true.
The Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword. We have to be careful how we use it. Is it judgemental or graceful?
Elihu would say, "the Wages of Sin is death."
Wait a minute Elihu. You forgot the second part of the verse:
"The Gift of God is Everlasting Life to those in Christ."
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those in Christ."
"If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
God is so good. When we represent God, Jesus said, "they will know you are my disciples by your love for one another."
We need to show God's Love, Grace and Mercy.
"It's the goodness of God that leads people to turn and follow Him."
In the 70's a generation of hippies were turned away by the Church. Chuck and Kay Smith realized these young people were very talented and smart but were a lost generation. They both began to Pray and a Young Hippie by the name of Lonnie Frisby showed up at the Chuck and Kay's door.
This young man was so talented and was able to help lead a New Generation of Believers.
Now Calvary Chapel has been an instrument that God has used to save millions of people from a life of despair.
Friends, God is in the business recovery. The Lord wants to turn things around. He isn't judging us. He is here to lift us up and poor favor upon us.
