What is Vanity?
- excessive pride:excessive pride, especially in personal appearance

- futility: the state or fact of being futile, worthless, or empty of significance

- pride, narcissism, self-importance, conceit, arrogance, egotism, airs, bigheadedness

- Empty

What does the World say?
- I must be better looking!
- I need to lose weight!
- I need a face lift!
- I must have Power!

What does Jesus say?
- Lose your Vanity to find life!
- Deny yourself !
- Be content !
- Get the Be-Attitudes!

I Kings 11

God say's, Solomon what's up? Do you Remember when we started this great journey together, and I gave you Wisdom?"

"Why did I give you Wisdom? Because you asked for it and then you realized everything else came with it beyond your wildest dreams."

"As you grew in Fame you also grew in Vane!"

"You aligned yourself with Hyrum of Phoenicia and gave him the contract to build my Temple that I never wanted in the first place. This Temple is cool but it isn't what I had in mind. My real Temple will come in the Flesh. He will be destroyed like this man made Temple will be but He will Rebuild His Temple in 3 days!"

"Solomon, I love you and am proud of what you did but it was all in Vane! All the Philanthropy and Good Works were all in Vane! I wanted your Heart but you gave your Heart to Vanity and in the end it was Empty wasn't it?"

"Solomon, the reason I really gave you Wisdom was because you did what your dad asked you to do!
I Responded to your Obedience to your father. Remember what he told you?"

"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work." 1 Chronicles 1:9-10

Solomon, I allowed you to write over 1000 Proverbs as You were directed by my Son Wisdom. This is more then anyone combined. However, Solomon you picked and chose which ones you wanted to follow."

"When you were building the Temple you became friends with Hyrum from Phoenicia and participated in Baal, Ashtoreth, Mollech etc.. Worship in the high places as you and him and all your people were "getting high!"

"It appeared as if you were on the right track because of the wealth I gave you but you were far from it. You had many worldly wives and a ton of girl friends on the side."

(As a side note doesn't this sound like Joseph Smith and Brigham Young? Ironically Joseph Smith's brother's name was Hyrum and the Temple High Place Worship is from Phoenicia. Both of them also had many wives and girlfriends).

"In the end Solomon, all your Fame was in Vain with emptiness and loneliness as you passed on like the rest.

What did Solomon do right though? He listened to his mom and dad and God honored that!

Likewise we have the Opportunity to do the same!
