Fw: Impact Play: “Opening Day”

Team:

Today FCA talks about Opening Day Today in Baseball. A New Beginning. The Past is gone. The only thing to remember are the Victories.

With God you also can have a New Season Filled with Hope and Vision for the Future. Jer 29:11

" Brethren I count not myself to have apprehended:  but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 3:13-14

Jesus said, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear My voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you with me." Rev 3:20

Right now he is Knocking at the door of your life. Today is Your Opening Day to a Brand New Life.

He won't come in though unless you ask Him.

Go For It! Ask Him into your Life today and Start your New Season.

Strength "Almighty Father, may our athletes and coaches be strong in You and in the strength of Your might..."
-- Ephesians 6:10

Opening Day Thursday, March 31st, 2011

READY:  "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" -2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

SET:  Every year, all across America, the coming of spring is heralded by a festive celebration extending from Denver to Baltimore, Los Angeles to Boston, New York to Seattle: MLB Opening Day. This day provides a fresh start for all major league baseball teams—a time when their records are even and their slates are wiped clean. It marks the beginning of a six-month season for the great American pastime, in which any team can begin a transformation from worst to first. As followers of Jesus, we have an even greater opportunity to live every day as if it is our own personal Opening Day. Each day, God gives us a new opportunity to live a life worthy of the calling He's given us. With each new sunrise, we as believers get to begin a new "season" and take another step toward closeness with our Father through prayer, Bible study, fellowship with other believers, outreach to those in need, and by sharing the love of Jesus with those who are lost.

Today, as the teams take the field for the first time, remember that you are experiencing your own Opening Day, as well. The old has gone, the new has come! Because of Christ's sacrifice, your record is 0-0, your slate is clean, and an eternal season of the Great Commission is beginning. What a great feeling!

Fw: Impact Play: “Get Smart”

Team:

Today's Coach is Jere Johnson out of FCA Chicago. He has a great message about Virginia Commonwealth Basketball.

Coach Smart of VCU Men's Basketball Team is in the Final Four. VCU was unknown a few weeks ago. Now Coach Smart is very Famous in the Basketball World as his Team Shocked Everyone.

Most "Experts" thought VCU shouldn't even be in the Tournament.

Has any so called "Experts" told you the same type of thing?

Prove them Wrong! Eph3:20

Phil 4:13 says: "I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me."

Get Smart Wednesday, March 30th, 2011
READY:  "So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them."  -Matthew 4:24 (ESV)

SET:  Three weeks ago, the name Shaka Smart was not one most people would have recognized (outside of VCU nation, of course).

However, Coach Smart—the head coach of NCAA men's Final Four team Virginia Commonwealth University—is now a household name after their great run through the tournament.

After the season, it's a safe bet that Coach Smart will even be offered a number of coaching positions at larger schools. It's just part of the situation for a once little-known coach who is now one of the hottest names in the sport today.

In all of his media interviews, Coach Smart has done a great job of staying humble and giving praise to his team. I'm sure that the staff at VCU will do everything in their power to keep him at their school for a long time. But, regardless of his career decisions, Shaka Smart now carries a name that is known across the country.

When Jesus first started His ministry, He didn't have a household name, either. However, several events put His name on the radar rather quickly. After Jesus called His disciples to follow Him, He started speaking to the masses and healing the people. Soon, crowds started following Him wherever He went. News traveled fast about this man they called Jesus, and it wasn't long before everyone knew His name!

As Jesus' fame spread, He stayed above reproach in every way. He didn't compromise who He was or change how He reacted to the new onslaught of popularity. I don't know about Coach Smart's faith, but I pray that he won't compromise his character as his fame grows, either. If he does take a job at a different school, I'm sure he will do well. Whatever university gets Smart will get a solid coach.

But here's the thing. Whoever gets Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, will get something even greater: eternal life that will never end.

All earthly fame is fleeting. Coach Smart is famous now, and he will be for as long as he coaches and continues to do well on the court. But the fact remains that, just like others before him, his fame will one day fade.

It's the nature of our world that something or someone else always comes along in our footsteps and makes others forget what we accomplished.
That wasn't the case with Jesus, though. Because He did things that have never been and can never be surpassed, His fame is lasting—even growing to this day. As the only Son of the Living God, He remains the only sinless person who ever lived, and the only One who conquered sin and death for all mankind. His is a fame that can never and will never be equaled.

At the end of this basketball season, many schools will want to "get Smart." But, it's my desire that even more will want to get Jesus! Securing a great coach for a basketball team is a great move professionally, but locking in a Lord and Savior is the greatest move of all.

GO:

1. In your opinion, who are some of the top young basketball coaches in college basketball today?

2. What does instant fame do to many young coaches? What did instant fame do to Jesus Christ? (Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to find out more.)

3. Why is earthly fame so fleeting?

4. Why has Jesus Christ remained famous?

5. If you gained instant notoriety, how would it affect your walk with Christ?

WORKOUT:  Mark 1:1-8 Acts 4:12 Hebrews 13:8

Hearing God above It All Friday, March 25th, 2011

READY:  "My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me." -John 10:27

SET:  The crowd is screaming. It's a big game: a rivalry, a championship or just a great contest with a frenzied crowd cheering at the top of their lungs. The gym is filled with so much noise from the crowd, the band and the PA announcer. The coach, who has almost lost his voice, yells out to his players to make an adjustment, and the players respond.

But how does the player even hear his coach among the chaos and the intense noise in his surroundings? Because he spends time with the coach in the weight room, at practice and maybe even in the classroom.

Thus, he hears the voice of his coach day after day and recognizes his voice in the intensity of the game.

Jesus says to us in John 10:27: "My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me."

Do you hear God's voice during intense situations in life?

Do you hear Him coaching you in the big decisions you make? If you are not hearing God in the midst of life's big games or through the noise of the crowd, ask yourself:

Am I spending time listening to God in the quiet times? Do I do that each day so that I can recognize His voice when He does call to me?

By spending time with God daily we can begin to understand His instructions in all situations of life: the peaceful times, the storms or just above the everyday crowd noise.

If you are one of God's children, learn to know your Father's voice so that He can direct you and guide you to make the right plays. By hearing His voice and responding to His instruction, we know we can get through our day in peace and in the right direction.

GO:  Do you make time to listen to God? Do you recognize His voice? How does He speak to you? If you don't know how to hear God, talk to a trusted pastor or Christian friend.

God reveals Himself in many different ways, and you must learn how to hear and recognize His voice.

Fw: The Offensive Playbook

Team:

Today's Coach is Pastor Adrian Rogers.

Coach Rogers talks about a great offensive game plan. He says we need to be on the attack instead of just playing defense.

The Word of God is our offensive Weapon. Hebrews 4:12 When Jesus was being tempted in the Wilderness after 40 days of fasting He was very weak but Filled with the Holy Spirit.

"Filled with the Holy Spirit."

"So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature." Galatians 5:16

The enemy tried to tempt Jesus with Power, Riches and an Alternative Game Plan other than going to the Cross. Instead of being conservative Jesus used His Playbook and went on the Offensive. Luke 4

Jesus realized He was weak from no food but He Trusted His Father, relied on His Playbook and The Holy Spirit to get Him the Victory.

Playing on the Offense

"I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

Do you know what's wrong with many of us? We're trying to get out of trouble rather than get into righteousness.

We're so focused on the defensive side of Christianity that we forget about the offensive, positive approach.

Wouldn't you like to get up and stay up? Wouldn't you like to experience the abundant life our Lord talks about? Jesus came to give us the eternal life. He came to give us the abundant life. We need to do like the old song says, "Accentuate the positive. Eliminate the negative."

Why don't you determine today that you are going to get right with God and stay right with God? That you're going to take steps to lead a life of obedience.

The Word of God is our offensive Weapon. When Jesus was being tempted in the Wilderness after 40 days of fasting He was very weak but Filled with the Holy Spirit.

The enemy tried to tempt Jesus with Power, Riches and an Alternative Game Plan other than going to the Cross. Instead of being conservative and defensive Jesus used the Playbook and went on the offensive. Luke 4

When I grew up the church said, "No you can't do that. Watch out for that. Don't make a mistake."

I walked around paranoid. I asked myself,
"What can I do?".

Then God spoke to my heart and said go on the Offensive. I saw 3-4000 Hippies going on the Offensive with the Word of God at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa.

These Hippies were strung out on Pot, LSD and Heroin. They had no future and no hope. Their Lives were Empty, Lonely, Paranoid and Ashamed. The only out for them was Drugs. Drugs tried to fill the emptiness but it created an even bigger hole in the soul.

Until God used Kay and Chuck Smith to reach them with His Offensive Playbook. The First Play was to Receive Christ into their Lives and allow God to Transform them and the Next Generation.

They went from "Make Love and not War" (Vietnam) to "They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another."

They served communities and worked for the Lord helping to re-build the 70's - 80's Generation giving people a future and a hope in God. They were the Nehemiah Generation.

Today those Hippies are very successful business leaders and Pastors serving the Lord and Communities throughout the World.

What was the Key? They put Faith into Action. They got in the Game.

Get the Book Harvest by Chuck Smith and read their Stories.

Now we say, "What can we Do for the Lord and our fellow man - TEAMMATES?"

Go on the Offensive. Open His Playbook and Use it. Let's Put our Faith into Action.

If you are depressed and down get a Purpose and a Plan of Action. Get in the Game and watch how your Life will now be a Miracle for Others.

What an Incredible Feeling it is knowing you allowed God to use you to help Transform someone's life for Him.

Do you want to beat depression? Get in the Game and Put Faith into Action.

Have a Purpose to Lift others out of a Black Hole and into God's Loving Hands.

What a great Purpose!

Fw: You are a Miracle!

Team:

God wants you to know you are a Miracle.
What does that mean to you?

How does it make you feel when you know you know someone believes in you?

How does it make you feel knowing the Creator of the Universe believes in you?
John 1:1,14

"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful," Psalm 139:13-14

You are a Miracle!

It doesn't matter how and why you got here you are here because God planned it that way.

God Believes in You. In The Playbook, the Bible, it says that God knew you before the Foundations of the Earth were Formed. Ephesians 1

You are a Miracle!

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

You are a Miracle!

Psalm 139:16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

You are a Miracle
God has a Plan for You
You are written in His Playbook

Just like a Coach who believes in a player and will do anything to help that player succeed God Believes in You.

God Put His name on You because he believes in you!

You are a Miracle!

Be Empowered, Feel Awesome and Know God Believes in You and has a Plan and Purpose for Your Life. Jer 29:11

Fw: The Enemy Procrastination

Team:

Today's Coach is Adrian Rogers. Coach Rogers talks about Procrastination.

Procrastination is the Enemy just like:
Forgetfulness, Complacency, Excuses

So many times we say, "I will do it tomorrow."

Quarterback James say's "No do it Now."
James 3

In Zech 4, Zerubbabel was overwhelmed with the Task of Rebuilding the Temple. He did not know where to begin.

Do you ever feel that way?

Remember, Later may never come.

Have you been putting off a Task or a Goal for a more Convenient time?

We all do this. I fall into this trap all the time.

We might say, "I have all this school work, paperwork, projects due and I have to prepare for the season with my workouts ect...."

Overwhelmed?

You're not alone. In the Process of Rebuilding the enemy wants to delay your progress.

"Your Progress is the enemy's Defeat and he knows it."

God told Zerubbable, "Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord." Zech 4:6

God Knows you want to make it happen and he also knows how the enemy is trying to rob and steel from you your progress.

"The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in a person's determination."
Tommy Lasorda Manager LA Dodgers

When you Step forth by Faith and Determination God steps in and Finishes it.

When we are Proactive we get in front of Procrastination before it happens.

"He who began a good work in you will Finish it."

You Supply the Will, God Supplies the Power

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." James 4:17

Are you one of those people who believes "Put off until tomorrow what you could be doing today"?

This is one of those times when the fingers pointing back at me outnumber the one that's pointing to you! What am I talking about?

Procrastination.

Did you know that procrastination is a sin? I say that because sin is not merely doing wrong, it is failing to do what you ought to do.

Procrastination and disobedience are just different shades of the same sin. I heard a quote once that said it well:  "When you have a job to do, begin this very hour. You supply the will, God supplies the power."

That is the will power we need to instantly obey!

Has a certain task been hounding you? Confess your procrastination as sin. And act now. don't hesitate. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow may never come. Today is the day!

Fw: Leading and Rebuilding

Team:

Today's Coach is Jere Johnson from FCA Chicago. (His message follows this one)

Today's Offensive Coordinator is Nehemiah. Nehemiah 1

Sometimes in the Seasons of Life it is time to Rebuild. It is time to Re-establish our Goals and Purpose for our Team.

At this time Team Israel was devastated. Many people were starving and homeless with no future and no hope.

Nehemiah was a Great Leader but wasn't in the Position to Lead until now. He was the Cup Bearer.

He was a Servant. He tasted the Kings Cup first before the King drank it to make sure the drink wasn't Poisoned.

How would you like to have this Job?

Nobody wanted this job except Nehemiah. He took the job as an opportunity to be in front of the King.

If he is in front of the King he could influence the King to Help his Team Win.

That's what Leaders do. They Take Responsibility for the Team.

Being a Cup Bearer means taking Responsibility for the Team.

When I played Running Back my first job on passing downs was to protect the Quarterback from the Blitzing Linebacker.
In another words I was the Cup Bearer and taking Responsibility for the QB. I had to be willing to step in and Block the Linebacker Blitzing at 100mph.

The point is someone has to be willing to Drink the Cup, check for Poison and Take Responsibility for the Team.

Nehemiah stepped up and was the Cup Bearer to protect the King and now is going to Lead the Rebuilding of a Nation.

Jesus Also became our Cup Bearer and took Responsibility to Lead us in Rebuilding our Lives.

Jesus said, "Please take this Cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Mark 14:36

"Is there is any other way man can get to Heaven besides me Drinking this Cup and going to the Cross?"

"OK Give Me the Cup, it needs to be done."

Nehemiah didn't wait until he was elected or promoted. He Led right then and there because it needed to be done. He said,

"OK give me the Cup, it needs to be done."

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!"
Zig Zigler

The Team knew how much Nehemiah cared by his willingness to be the Cup Bearer and Take Responsibility.

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

The Team responded to his Leadership and Re-Built the Walls of the Nation in the in just 52 days because Nehemiah said,

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

Do you have 52 days until your next Season? It can be done! It's Possible!
Take Responsibility and say,

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

Check out what another Cup Bearer named Bear Bryant Head Coach University of Alabama said:

"If anything goes Bad, I did it. If anything goes Semi-Good, We did it. If anything goes Real Good, You did it. That's all it takes to get People to Win football games."

"When the Team knows their Leader is willing to take all the Blame and is Responsible for anything that goes Wrong the Team will Run through Walls."

Bear Bryant knew this valuable secret and look at the results:

6 National Championships (1961, 1964–1965, 1973, 1978–1979)

Our Team is:

Family, Parents, Husband, Wife, Peers, Teammates, Business Associates, ect....

What if we take Responsibility and say:

"Give me the Cup, it needs to be done."

Passion "May they yearn, even faint, for the courts of the Lord; crying out for the living God..."
-- Psalm 84:2

Time to Rebuild Friday, March 11th, 2011
READY:  "They said to me, 'The survivors in the province, who returned from the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem's wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned down.'" -Nehemiah 1:3

SET:  Every once in a while you read a positive story about coaching. I particularly like examples of the coach who goes back home to his or her alma mater to rebuild a struggling program.

These coaches not only have a passion for their home schools, but also a plan to put the schools back on the map. It may take time to rebuild, but for the Christian coach, it will also take something else: prayer, and a lot of it.

Nehemiah was a man of similar focus. What do we know about him? If you read his story in the Old Testament, you'll find that he was not a contractor, but a cupbearer.

He worked for the king who put out a decree that no one would rebuild Jerusalem's walls. Nehemiah had much at stake, but he knew he had to act. The town of his family was in ruins, and he knew he had to do something about it!
Nehemiah had a passion (his people in Jerusalem), a plan (to rebuild the wall) and a prayer, many of which are recorded in the Bible.

Nehemiah understood one thing well: rebuilding anything in life required prayer and a plan to get the job done. We know by reading his book that it took only 52 days to rebuild the wall, but it was not an easy task.

Maybe you have a wall (sin/struggle) in your life that needs to be rebuilt or restored. Do you have a passion to see it changed? Do you have a plan to make it happen? Are you committed to prayer--even if you have to pray every day for 52 or more days?

Today, I want to challenge you to do just that: get on your knees and pray that God would move and rebuild the "walls" in your life that seem so big. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.

Fw: Og Mandino

Special Team:

Here is a great quote from Og Mandino. I read Og's Book "The World's Greatest Salesman" when I graduated from Long Beach State University.

This book helped direct my life and my dreams to be the best I could be each and every day - To Win the Day!!!

Here he tells us to do the opposite of our negative emotions. Turn the Negative Recorder off and Turn on Jesus Christ.

One Thing: add the words "To God" after each sentence. Og would like this.

Own this Play!!!

If I feel ill I will double my labor.

If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.

If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.

If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.

If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.

If I feel incompetent I will think of past success.

If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.

Today I will be the master of my emotions.

Fw: Impact Play: 'Time to Rebuild'

Team:

Today's Coach is Jere Johnson from FCA Chicago. Today's Offensive Coordinator is Nehemiah. From the Book of Nehemiah.

Sometimes in the Seasons of Life it is time to Rebuild. It is time to Re-establish our Goals and Purpose for our Team.

Nehemiah was a Great Leader but wasn't in the Position to Lead until now. He was the Cup Bearer. He was a Servant. He tasted the Kings Cup first before the King drank to make sure the drink wasn't poisoned.

How would you like to have that Job?

But think about it at some point in our life we have all "tasted the cup" for someone else to make sure it wasn't poisoned.

Maybe you Stepped up and Protected someone from false accusations or from being wiped out by a Blitzing Linebacker.

When I played Running Back my job when we passed was to check if their was a blitzing linebacker first then swing for an outlet. My first job was to protect the Quarterback from getting Sacked. In another words I was the Cup Bearer for the QB.

The point is someone has to be willing to drink the cup and check for Poison.

Nehemiah stepped up and was the Cup Bearer to protect the King and now is going to Lead the Rebuilding of a Nation.

Jesus is the Cup Bearer that dealt with the Poison of Sin and Rebuilds our Broken Lives.

When Jesus was in the garden the night before he got Murdered he said:

"Abba, Father," He cried out, "everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Mark 14:36

Jesus became our Cup Bearer so we could Win!

When you are the Cup Bearer and take the Poison for others so the Team Wins.

What if we humbled ourselves and were the Cup Bearer's for our broken teams, families and relationships?

Israel Won because a Servant Nehemiah stepped out and Led the Nation right from where he was.

He didn't wait till he was elected or promoted. He Led right then and there because it needed to be done.

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!"
Zig Zigler

The Team knew how much Nehemiah cared by his willingness to be the Cup Bearer.

The Team responded to this Leadership and Re-Built the Walls of the Nation in the off season in just 52 days.

Here is the Attitude another Cup Bearer named Bear Bryant said:

"If anything goes Bad, I did it. If anything goes Semi-Good, We did it. If anything goes Real Good, You did it. That's all it takes to get people to win football games."

Bear Bryant Head Coach University of Alabama

6 National Championships (1961, 1964–1965, 1973, 1978–1979)

When the Team knows their Leader cares by example and service and is willing to take all the blame for anything that goes wrong they will Run through a Wall for the Leader.

This was Nehemiah, Jesus, Bear Bryant and Now You.

In other words when you are the Cup Bearer and take the Heat for your team as a coach or a player the team will respond and give everything they have for the Cause.

Bear Bryant knew this valuable secret and look at the results.

Fw: Impact Play: “The Spotter”

Team:

Today's Coach is Steve Satake with FCA in Boise, Idaho. Today's Quarterback is the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus was with His Team He was the Leader and Team Captain. One day He told them He was going to be betrayed and Crucified on the Cross.

His Team was worried. They thought "oh no what are we going to do? It's over! If our Leader is taken out how do we survive?"

Have you ever been in a game and the QB or best Defensive Player gets injured and is taken out of the game?

Jesus knew what they were thinking and used this opportunity to show them how the Omnipresent Holy Spirit is going to be in each one of them giving them power to overcome and endure for a greater Cause.

"the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you." John 14:26

The Holy Spirit has our back. He is right there with us to help us.

In Zechariah 4:6 Zerebebel was overwhelmed with the project of building the Temple and God told him,

"This is the word the LORD spoke to Zerubbabel: You won't [succeed] by might or by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Armies."
Zech 4:6

Rely on the Holy Spirit in your Life.

"But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power ... " Acts 1:8

"Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Eph 3:20

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals."- Henry Ford

The Holy Spirit keeps you Focused on the Right things. The Holy Spirit gives you the confidence to keep your head in the game and think straight.

"The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in a person's determination."
Tommy Lasorda Manager LA Dodgers

Listen to the Holy Spirit today! He wants to give you the Confidence and Determination to take you to the Championship!

The Spotter Thursday, March 10th, 2011

READY:  "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit—the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you." -John 14:26

SET:  Weight lifters often use spotters to help them stay safe during workouts and get maximum results. In your own experience, have you ever done a bench press workout without a spotter? I have. And when I tried it, my workout was lack luster.

I couldn't work out as intensely as I could have if I'd known I had someone there. When I bench press, I'm so much more effective when I have a spotter to encourage me and offer help if I need it. When I get tired, my spotter speaks encouraging words or helps me lift, and he provides just enough help so that I can finish that last rep or two.

He really helps me have a great workout instead of just a good workout.

In life, God also gave us a Spotter: the Holy Spirit. In John 14:26, Jesus said that He was sending a Counselor to us in His absence.

The Holy Spirit showed up in Acts 2 when the Apostles had locked themselves in a room for fear of the Jews. The Apostles were afraid, powerless and confused as to what to do next.

But God's promised Spotter gave them the power to do miracles in the name of Jesus.

The Christians in that room had the knowledge and will to teach the good news, but they needed help. The Holy Spirit gave them courage, boldness and wisdom to preach the gospel at full strength.

They healed the sick and spoke the truth of Christ with authority. The Holy Spirit gave them the power to do their very best for God.

The great news is that God's Spotter—the Holy Spirit—is here for us today, as well. All we need to do is seek Him and listen for Him.

He will encourage us and guide us as we walk through the day's challenges. If we are diligent in seeking Him, our walk with Jesus will be strong, and we will have wisdom and discernment for the challenges we face each day as a Christ follower.

He will be there to encourage us, keep us strong, and even make us stronger in Christ.

Just like that person who stands behind the bench press waiting to help us become stronger physically, the Holy Spirit is behind us to help strengthen us spiritually and provide encouragement, wisdom and power.

Today, don't go to the "bench" alone. Your Heavenly Father has given you the ultimate Spotter in the form of His Holy Spirit. Let Him help make you as strong as you were meant to be!

Fw: Prepared for the Enemy

Team:

Today's Coach is Pastor Adrian Rogers. Today's Receiver is Jesus.

Here Coach Rogers wants us to be aware of the enemy.

If you are doing great in the game the other team is going to try to stop you.

They will put their best defender on you you to make sure you don't make another great catch or score another basket or hit another home run.

Jesus was having an Incredible game. He was "Prepared to be Prepared" for these Great Victories.

Many people were finally able to have a Future and a Hope. Jer 29:11

However the enemy was not happy. The enemy changes his game plan and tries to stop Jesus from Scoring more Touchdowns.

In Luke 4 Jesus is tempted by the enemy after fasting for 40 days. His flesh was weak. Jesus uses the Playbook (Scripture, God's Word) to defeat the enemy.

Jesus knew his flesh was weak at this moment and he needs to rely on the Playbook, the Word of God in His Life.

He was Prepared to be Prepared. He Watched Game Film and had a Great Scouting Report to run the Right play at the Right time

"Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time." Luke 4:13

Notice how the enemy gave up for now but he will look for another opportune time.

Read what Coach Rogers says about this in the following. He is a Great Coach with so much insight.

"Ten Percent of Life is made up of what happens to you--the other 90 percent is how you respond to what happens to you."

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"The Devil After the Dove" Principle Devotional thought from the messages of Adrian Rogers

BIBLE MEDITATION: "Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:27

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Have you ever gotten into an argument with a family member on the way to church? Don't look so pious! Every preacher knows that the devil will try to attack God's children right before church, after church—on the way home in the car!

There is a spiritual principle here that we need to learn. It is what I call "the devil after the dove" principle. Just as when Jesus was baptized and a dove descended, then right after He was led into the wilderness and tempted, so it will be with you.

When God does something great or when you get the approval of God about something, you can expect the attack of the enemy.

ACTION POINT: Leonard Ravenhill said, "When God opens the windows of heaven to bless us, the devil is going to open the doors of hell to blast us."

Have you had a wonderful spiritual experience recently? Then you better not start coasting. If the devil tempted Jesus, be sure he will tempt you as well. Pass This On To a Friend

Today's Coach is Former Washington Redskins Coach Joe Gibbs. Coach Gibbs has Coached 3 Super Bowl Championship Teams. Coach Gibbs also owns NASCAR racing teams.

Here Coach Gibbs talks about how your Life Counts. God Loves You So Much!
He has a Great Plan For your Life. Jeremiah 29:11

Coach Gibbs Coached many young men on Life and the Value God has placed on them. John 3:16

Today we need to be Coachable and Realize God has Great Plays for us to get us in the End Zone to Win the Game.
Jer 29:11

"being confident of this, that he who Began a Good Work in You will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Phil 1:6

The question is: Has the Good Work began in us?

The Work is God's Work on the Cross where Jesus took our Place so we could Win!

For the Work to begin in us all we do is ask Christ to begin.

Coach Gibbs would say, "start your engine."

Finish Strong!!!

Do you ever go through seasons when you just don't feel like your life counts for very much?

Everything seems about as pointless as a first-quarter NBA score in November. People treat you with less interest than a flight attendant's lecture on oxygen masks and exit doors.

But what's easy to forget at times like these is that your value is not something other people can assign to you.

They don't get to grade this. You have been given great worth by your Creator. Your significance is inborn.

Think of the dignity you possess, merely by being a product of God's design. You're able to reason and make choices. You can appreciate beauty and feel emotion.

You have the ability within your reach to bless others, to extend your influence and impact into another person's life.

You have even been given the privilege of communicating with your heavenly Father—a right he wasn't obligated to offer you, but one he freely extends because of his rich, abiding love for you.

Everything about you has been "woven together" in his all-wise mind and heart. Each day of your life has been "written" down by the one who made you. (Psalm 139:15-16). That's how valuable you are to him.

Instead of being bombarded by all the ways life has mistreated you or what a mess you've made, make this a day to celebrate what God has invested in you. You are worth far more than you realize.

Pray this prayer: I do get down on myself a lot, Lord. I have a hard time imagining that you love me. Would you remind me today? I could really use that.

Here are some great quotes he has on Leadership and Integrity.

------ Memo ------
On Integrity

Integrity is: Doing what you said you would do, when you said you would do it, and how you said you would do it. –Byrd Baggett

Always believe what a person does, not what he says. –Fred Smith

One of the primary rules of navigation is this: What's under the surface should carry more weight than what's above the surface if the ship is going to make it through storms without capsizing. That's exactly how it is with integrity. What's under the surface had better be greater than what you're showing to the world, or you're never going to make it through the storms of life. –Pat Williams

Wisdom is knowing the right path to take … Integrity is taking it. –MH McKee

People of integrity expect to be believed. They also know time will prove them right and are willing to wait. –Ann Landers

Watch what direction the feet point, when the mouth stops. You want a consistency between mouth and movement. –James Dignam

Integrity is keeping my commitment even if the circumstances when I made the commitment have changed. –David Jeremiah

Personal integrity is important, not because it gets us what we want, but because it helps us be what we want. –Michael Josephson

A man of character will make himself worthy of any position he is given. –Mahatma Gandhi

Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful. –Samuel Johnson

Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody's going to know whether you did it or not. –Oprah Winfrey

The time is always right to do what is right. -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Integrity is not a 90% thing, not a 95% thing; either you have it or you don't. –Peter Scotese

Integrity has no need of rules. –Albert Camus

In order to be a leader a man must have followers. And to have followers, a man must have their confidence. Hence the supreme quality for a leader is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office. If a man's associates find him guilty of phoniness, if they find that he lacks forthright integrity, he will fail. His teachings and actions must square with each other. –Dwight D Eisenhower

Fw: R3 and Forgetfulness

Team:

Today's Coach is Mike MacIntosh. Last time we dealt with the Enemy Complacency. Today's enemy is the Twin Brother of Complacency; Forgetfulness. Judges 8:32-35

Complacency will sneak up on us and Blindside us and Forgetfulness will finish the job and try to bury us.

How can we forget so easy the Work Ethic and Dedication it took to get us the Championship? The place we were at before we knew our Creator: Empty, Lonely, Guilty, Fearful and Afraid of Death.

Before we knew God we walked around in Fear. Then we got a Taste of Victory and experienced the Joy of the Lord.

No more Emptiness, no more Loneliness, Totally Forgiven and now Assured of Eternal Life.

Then one day we woke up and Forgot to read the Playbook and We forgot to spend time with the Coach.

"I will get to it later." We say.

Forgetfulness Intercepts a pass called our Thoughts and Desires and before we know it a Week goes by then a Year then a Decade.

We Forget our Playbook, our Plays and our God.

Things begin to Crumble around us and Then we have the next Enemy:

Excuses!

Lucky for us it is only Half Time!

Revelation Quarterback John and Offensive Coordinator JC give us a great way to come back in the book of Revelation. Rev 2

JC says, "We are going to run the R3"

Remember,Repent and Repeat.

Remember the Joy we had when we realized that God had a Great Plan For us. Jer 29:11

"The Joy of the Lord is Our Strength."

Remember when we felt Strong, Successful and we had a Purpose. The Future was so Bright and Clear.

Repent: Turn 180: Change Direction. We are going to Turn this Game around!

Repeat is doing the First Works as when we began: Reading the Playbook, Prayer, writing Emails to God ect..

The Second Half is ours to Win! R3

Let's get back to the basic Fundamentals. Use the Plays we know how to Run, Move the ball 5 yards at a time, Execute, Control the Clock and Play Great Defense (Eph 6)!

We can Win this game!

Who is going to Step up and Lead us to Victory?

Then I heard the voice of the Lord (Coach) saying,

"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said,

"Here am I Send Me!"

Isaiah6:8

So it was, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel again played the harlot with the Baals, and made Baal-Berith their god.

Thus the children of Israel did not remember the Lord their God, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side; nor did they show kindness to the house of Jerubbaal (Gideon) in accordance with the good he had done for Israel.
Judges 8:32-35

As soon as Gideon died, the people of Israel forgot the Lord their God and fell right back into sin, idolatry, and corruption.

And at times this is what our lives are like. As soon as the worship stops -- as soon as God becomes silent or "dead" in our lives -- we find ourselves in danger.

We're not strong enough in ourselves to overcome the enemy; we need God. As soon as we stop reading our Bible on a regular basis, having our devotions, and being in communication with Him through prayer, boy, the flesh wins.

As soon as we kill the move of the Holy Spirit, you better believe the old flesh will resurrect itself and say, "Here I am; back to the good old days."

Spiritual forgetfulness is definitely not one of the fruits of the Spirit! The Israelites didn't remember who "had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side."

I believe that forgetting not only shows a lack of respect, but is also a sign of a decaying heart. As a Christian, God is not dead in your heart.

You have been made alive through the wonderful gift and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Never forget who you are or where you came from.

"For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more.

Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God" (Romans 6:7-13).

Fw: Complacent - Spiritual Schizophrenia

Team:

Today's Coach is Mike MacIntosh. Today the enemy is Complacency.

Gideon just Won the Super Bowl. He Wiped out the opponent. Now Self Pride sets in. He gets Complacent. Judges 8:24-25

What is Complacency?

" A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy."

In other words Overconfident.

Gideon Thought he had Arrived. Nothing could get in his way not even God.

Remember this is the same Gideon that had to have Proof from God that he was the Right Guy For The Job.

He lacked Faith in Himself. Now God brings him Victory and he forgets God.

The "Ring" gets him. (Lord of the
Rings)

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:8

Don't fall into the trap of thinking you can do it without God.

Don't think you are beyond the Work it took you to get to where you are.

Nebuchadnezzar thought he was above it all and God drove Him into the Wilderness for 7 years. The King of the World went Insane. Daniel

When Nebuchadnezzar came back he realized that God is in control of everything not him.

Say No to Complacency!

The De La Salle Football Team won 151 straight games over 12 years because they said no to Complacency.

"They Played every play like it was their last."

Then Gideon said to them, "I would like to make a request of you, that each of you would give me the earrings from his plunder." For they had gold earrings, because they were Ishmaelites. So they answered, "We will gladly give them." And they spread out a garment, and each man threw into it the earrings from his plunder.
Judges 8:24-25

God used Gideon in powerful ways, but here we see that Gideon turns around and snubs his nose at God.

Even after some of the greatest battles and accomplishments that came his way through the Lord's help, Gideon turns around and creates a golden idol to be worshiped.

This is exactly what Aaron did when he allowed the golden calf to be made. After seeing this disaster, the book of Exodus records:

"Now when Moses saw that the people were unrestrained (for Aaron had not restrained them, to their shame among their enemies), then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, 'Whoever is on the Lord's side--come to me!'" (Exodus 32:25-26a).

Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint."

And that's exactly what happened to Aaron and to Gideon; they forgot what it meant to hunger and thirst for the things of the Lord, and they cast Him off.

They forgot the word of the Lord and His revelation to them.

How does that happen? How is it that one minute you and I can be spiritual men and women, and the next minute we're cursing somebody who is made in the image of God?

How is it that one minute we're so humble in the presence of the Lord, and then we're over at a department store pushing people out of line at the sale table so we can get that sweater we wanted?

I think, just like Gideon, that this sort of "spiritual schizophrenia" comes from a heart that doesn't put God in His proper place in our lives.

We think we deserve so much, and therefore should get the credit for everything that is accomplished. But that's so ungrateful to the One who created us!

Paul said that God uses the foolish to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). Be careful that your pride and your ego don't run the show. You are who you are because God made you. You do what you do because He's put it in you. You have the influence you do because He's working around you.

And if you ever see yourself more highly than that, you're in big trouble. So, when really good things or victories come your way, don't allow the flesh to get in the way; allow the Holy Spirit to keep you humble and thankful.

Fw: Just Do It for the Right Reason

Team:

Today's Coach Is Pastor Greg Laurie.

Yesterday we talked about having a Cause and to "Just Do It."

Today let's Focus on:

Just Do It for the Right Reason!

Coach Greg Talks about Teamwork in the following message. As a Team Player you can be a Leader by setting a Great example of: Hard Work, Dedication, Desire, Discipline, Character ect..

You can also be a Servant Leader to help the Cause of the Whole Team.

Just Doing it is important. Taking a Step of Faith to "Just Do It" is being a Leader.

Now we must have a "Cause" and a "Just Do It" Attitude for the Glory of God's Bigger Team.

The Right Reason to " Just Do It" is Love!

The Bible Says, "Love Conquers All!"

What is my Reason to have a Cause?

What is my Reason to Just Do It?

Jesus said,

"Greater Love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his Friends or Teammates."
John 15:13

Now that is Power! That is a Cause! That is Leadership! That is "Just Doing It" for the Right Reason.

Have a Cause for God!

Have a Cause for Your Family!

Have a Cause for your Teammates!

Have a Cause and Compete to Win in all Areas of Your Life.

"Just Do It!"

For the Right Reason!

Teamwork

He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one:

"Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. . . . " — Matthew 13:3

In contrast to farming in the 21st century, first-century farming was quite simple. A farmer would plant his crops by walking along and throwing seed in a relatively indiscriminate manner.

Sometimes the wind would pick up the seed, some might end up on a road, and some might land on ground that was embedded with stones or infested with weeds. And some would land on fertile, receptive soil.

In the same way, we are called to spread the seed of the Word of God as far as we can and to as many people as possible. And we don't always know where it is going.

As Paul wrote to the believers at Corinth, "I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.

It's not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What's important is that God makes the seed grow.

The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work" (1 Corinthians 3:6–8).

Believers who may not even know each other are effectively working together. When Christians go out and share their faith with someone, they have just sowed seed.

A little bit later, when the people who have heard the gospel encounter believers who live godly lives, the lifestyle of those Christians has, in effect, watered the seed the other Christians sowed. And later, someone invites them to church, where they hear the gospel and respond.
The people who sowed and the people who watered and the people who reaped are all secondary. God is the one who brought about the conversion.

But He worked through all those believers, who worked together as a team.

Fw: What is Your Cause? Just Do It!

Team:

Today's Coach is Pastor Bob Coy. Today's Quarterback is Paul the Apostle.

Paul shares some great success stories in the Playbook of Hebrews chapter 11. He shows us these Successful people to give us Hope for our own Future.

Paul also shows the people who died for what they believed in.

"They were Stoned; they were Sawed in two; they were put to Death by Sword...
Persecuted...Mistreated...the World was not Worthy of them." Hebrews 11:37-38

Sometimes being a believer in Christ is Tough. What gives you the Drive to keep going when all is against you?

The Hebrew 11 Leaders had a Cause.

A Cause and a Purpose so Big nothing could stop them.

They had the Nike "Just Do It Attitude."

Like David once said, "is there no Cause in Israel?"

David Knew to Succeed and Win You must have a Cause.

What is a Cause? Something you are Sold out for. Something so deep that it doesn't matter what it takes. I'm going to succeed.

A Cause says,

"Just Do it."

A Cause says,

"It is Time to Stand Up and Lead"

A Cause says,

"Just Do It!!"

A Cause says,

"I will Lead by Example"

A Cause says,

"Just Do it"

Here are some other Heroes who had a Cause and said,

"Just Do it"

In 445 B.C. Esther was told " this is your Cause and Purpose in Life. For you to go to the King and Save Israel."

"But what if the king doesn't listen me?

Just Do it!

"What if I get my head cut off."

Just Do it!

Esther had a Cause that was so deep it did not matter if her life was on the line. It was that important!

Esther Did It!

In 1776 General George Washington was Sold Out for the Cause but was also out of Money.

He had the future of the U.S.A. on his shoulders. People were sick, dying, and losing their feet from gangrene. There was no hope.

They said, "General Washington can you do it?"

"But we are out of money and resources."
"General Washington can you Do It?"

"But we are low on personnel."

"General Washington can you Do It?"

"You don't understand the British have too much Manpower?"

"General Washington can you Do It?"

General Washington said, " Yes We will Just Do It."

Then God sent Haym Solomon from Israel to give George Washington $700,000 (3 Trillion in today's money).

Haym said,

"General Washington Just Do It!"

Haym said, "I will Burn Down My House to Preserve God's House - The New Promisde Land - The United States of America."

Haym Soloman burnt his house down when he found out the British we're going to use his house as their headquarters. Haym died with no Money and no House but that didn't matter.

Haym Soloman had Cause,
"
Just Do It!"

That is what True Life is all about. A Cause so Big it is beyond you and you just don't worry about your life. My Life is God's Life anyway. I'm Sold Out to God.
You Just Do It!

Do you want to Win League - CIF - State?

Do you Want to Huddle in Front of Sports West at the State Game and Show how an Awesome God can Give People Hope not only in Football but in Life?

Have a Cause and Just Do It!

Be a Leader, Gather your Troops and
Just Do It!

Then I heard the voice of the Lord (Coach) saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I Send Me!"
Isaiah6:8

Is that you? Is the Coach calling You? Is

He saying whom shall I send?

Say, "Send Me!"

I Believe God is calling you. In fact I know He is calling you.

Just Do it!

You Just Do It and Do it and Do it till you get it done.

Have a Cause - Lead your Troops and Just Do It!

See you on Fox Sports next December!

Now - Just Go! Win the Day!

A happy ending?
Still others had trial... Hebrews 11:36 (NKJV)
In rounding out our examination of faith, an interesting detail emerges in the closing verses of Hebrews Chapter 11.

For the greater portion of the chapter, we're introduced to the valiant, the victorious, and the vindicated figures of faith.

We read about Noah building the ark and saving humanity, about Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, and Daniel. These are all what we would consider "glory stories." They have the happy ending we all want to associate with faith.

Then the chapter takes a turn in verse 36. It switches its attention to those who "had trial." That's a polite biblical way of saying that their stories didn't have a happy ending.

There's torture, there's enslavement, there's imprisonment, there's banishment, there's even execution in the cruelest of forms. These aren't the biblical bedtime stories we want to hear or share.

Yet they're included here, and the reason is to show us that faith isn't just something that enables us to overcome in this life, but it's also something that enables us to endure this life...no matter how painful or difficult it may be.

Notice the spiritual seal of approval placed on their lives:

And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith... (Hebrews 11:39 NKJV)

There are those who would suggest that if you have enough faith you'll have an easy life. Not according to God's Word.

Sometimes it's God's purpose for His people to suffer, and when it is, we need to remember that it's not because we've fallen short in the faith department. In fact, it's under adverse conditions that our faith actually shines brightest.
