Fw: Fear Not

Team:

Today's Coach is Adrian Rogers. He shows us how a Back-up Quarterback named Joshua comes into the biggest game of his life.

Joshua needs to come in the game for Moses. They are in the final week of the Season. They need a Big Victory to get into the Playoffs.

Do you ever get Worried and Fear?

"The fear of man brings a snare: but whoever puts his trust in the LORD shall be safe." Proverbs 29:2

"Fear Is Like A Bear. Sometimes You Pin The Bear And Other Times The Bear Pins You ---- Don't get Pinned."

" You can't let it get Control of you, you have to Control it by getting in Front of it." Jamie Coston ev3

"Courage is Resistance to Fear -
Mastery of fear - not Absence of Fear."
Mark Twain

Coach Jesus said in John 16:33

"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have Peace. In this world you will have trouble. But be of Good Courage! I have Overcome the World."

"Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it."
-in other words: Get in the Game

Fear Not / Adrian Rogers

"Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with the whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9

The devil is the sinister minister of fear. When he clamps his icy fingers of fear on your heart, do you become afraid of what he'll do to you if you take a stand for God?

Don't be afraid. Fear is an insult to God who said, "I will be with thee." Fear will destroy you.

Are you a worrywart?

One lady said, "Don't tell me it does no good to worry. Most of the things I worry about never come to pass."

Be not dismayed. God will take care of you.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what your fears are, then confess them as sin.

Repent, then reach up and take hold of His right hand that is outstretched to sustain you and give you the victory!

Fw: A Player Agent/ Defense Attorney

Team:

Here is a Great message from Quarterback Adrian Rogers.

In the NFL the players have Agents to help them Negotiate Contracts.

You have the best Agent in the Universe to Negotiate your Contract.

God has a Contract that Jesus negotiated for you. Now it's up to you to sign it.

The Season is Starting. The Team needs you to be in the Huddle.

Sign the Contract.

There is a Huge Signing Bonus!

"There comes a special moment in everyone's life, a moment for which that person was born. That special opportunity, when he seizes it, will fulfill his mission – a mission for which he is uniquely qualified. In that moment, he finds greatness. It is his finest hour."

1 John 2:1 - "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: The way to deal with your sins is for you to confess – that means, you are to begin by agreeing with God as to what He says about your sin. You need to also confidently deal with your sin. Now, what do I mean by that? You have your own attorney when you go into the judge's chambers for adjudication. According to God's Word, you have an Advocate, which is another name for attorney. The devil is the prosecuting attorney who points the accusing finger at us and says, "Look at him!" And Jesus, the defense attorney, stands by our side and says, "But Father, look at Me. I shed My blood for him." Because Jesus died, our debt is paid. Hallelujah! Though our sins are as scarlet, He will wash them white as snow!

ACTION POINT: Praise God today that your defense attorney is the Judge's Son!

Fw: The Family Playbook Joshua 8:35

Team:

Here is a great message forwarded by Tom Oneill from Pastor and Offensive Lineman Jon Courson.

The Offensive Linemen are so important and are the ones in the Trenches Protecting the Quarterback.

Here we see a great way for all of us to Protect our families.

Younger people encourage your parents to know the Playbook.

Parents go over the Plays in the Playbook with your children and their friends.

Let the stories of the Playbook constantly be coming out of our mouths.

"If you continually ask yourself, What's important now?, you won't waste time on the trivial."
Lou Holtz Former Head Coach Notre Dame

"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path."
Psalm 119:105

It can start with a TXT message with a verse everyday. Then a prayer at dinner with our family (Huddle) to thank God for our food.

Now - Just Go! Finish Strong!

Rick
Phil 4:13

Coach Jon's Game Plan:

There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.
Joshua 8:35

At the beginning of their conquest of the Promised Land, all of Israel and those in their company stopped to hear the Word.
Have your kids heard the Word?

The tremendous task before us is to read and discuss the Word of God with our kids over and over, day after day.

"We don't have time," you might say.

"There are battles to fight, wars to win, Little League games to play, staff meetings to attend."

Joshua could have easily said the same thing. But he realized that if we're not talking to our kids about the Word of God, then we're missing the mark completely.

And the stakes are getting higher because we're living in the last days. Dark will get darker and the dangers will become greater.

Mom and Dad, if you care about your son or daughter, you will take this responsibility seriously. It is a big mistake to assume our kids know the Word.

That's why Joshua said, "I know you're anxious to conquer the Land. I know you can't wait to drive out the enemy so you can settle in, grow your crops, and enjoy your family. But we're stopping here and now to go over the Word again."

The Word will be plastered on the wall of your soul and imprinted in your mind if you will take the time to review it time after time after time.

Live long enough, and you'll find yourself in a thin hospital gown, crawling up on the table for some kind of test procedure. You'll wait by the phone for the results, trying not to worry but unable to keep from wondering what you'll do if it's bad.

Is there a game plan for this kind of situation?

Let's just say that one of the blessings of living in daily fellowship with God is developing a settled heart. You realize your salvation is accomplished and complete. You recognize how many things are beyond your control. And you begin to understand that trusting him is a lot more effective than fretting and losing sleep. He takes care of you either way. So why waste the nervous energy?

Inner peace is not a formula. It's not treating God like a good-luck charm. It's about spending time reading His Word. Praying when you could be listening to sports radio. Talking to him instead of talking to yourself. Relationship, not ritual. Try it consistently for a month, and you'll look back a few weeks from now amazed at the amount of perspective and security he's given you. You'll be more like a man who has "no fear of bad news," whose "heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord" (Psalm 112:7).

Want to be ready for that next trip to the doctor? Then run your laps, watch your portions . . . and start relying on the Great Physician to get you through each day.

Pray this prayer: Lord, I waste so much of my time worrying about things you're already taking care of. I long for a settled, peaceful heart—one that's ready for trouble because I've been trusting you all along.

Adrian Rogers Complete Payment for Your Sin
Devotional thought from the messages of Adrian Rogers
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Romans 3:25 - “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Propitiation is a big word that means satisfaction. Because God is a holy God, His anger and justice burns against sin. And He has sworn that sin will be punished.

There must be a satisfactory payment for sin.  But God said, “If I punish man for his sin, man will die and go to hell. On the other hand, if I don’t punish man for his sin, My justice will never be satisfied.”

The solution? God said that He would become our substitute. He would take the sin of mankind upon Himself in agony and blood – a righteous judgment and substitute for sin.

His wrath burned out on the cross when His only Son died as man’s propitiation for sin. And this is love (see 1 John 4:10).

ACTION POINT:
Question: What can you bring Jesus today to repay Him for what He has done for you? Answer: Nothing could suffice. But “Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my ALL!”
Pass This On To a Friend | My Subscriptions | Discover Jesus | Read the Bible online
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Fw: Intentness- David - Cause

Team:

Today's Quarterback is David in the Bible.

David said:

"Is there no "Cause" in Israel?"
1 Samuel 17

Young David said this when he saw how Israel was afraid of one Man.

David was small in stature but he was called by God.

What is a" Cause?"

A "Cause" causes you to be Sold Out!

"Cause" is something so important you will lay down your life for your Teammates.

"Cause" is something that will drive you to work Harder and Train Harder than you ever have.

"Cause" is:

W - Work Hard - leads to
E - Endurance - leads to
D - Dedication - leads to
D - Desire - leads to

B- Belief in your "Cause"

David was Prepared to be Prepared. He had done all these things and as a result killed an attacking Bear and Lion to save his Sheep two different times.

David Knew that God had helped him before and will Again and Again and Again.

David's past Accomplishments with God gave him Confidence with Undeniable "Cause" for the Future of Israel.

So David was Prepared. Preparation is good but being Prepared to be Prepared is a Whole Different Level.

David was Prepared to be Prepared which gave him "Cause.

"Cause" is something beyond you that only Partnering with God will Work.

"Cause" is immovable Faith that the "Cause" is so important that the "Cause" is your Destiny.

The "Cause" Defines who you are.

If there is no "Cause" we are week.

"Without a Vision the People Perish."

With "Cause" we move Mountains.

What is your "Cause" today?????

Why?

- it's God's plan for your life.

- it is why you were placed here on. Earth.

Give everything you have right now in your current Cause. David was not looking for a future Cause when he prepared to be prepared for the Lion and Bear.

By taking care of the Now the Future will take care of itself. When you get to the future the past Causes will make you Prepared to be Prepared for the Future Cause.

You may be a Student/ Athlete now but when you apply your Cause right now you will be "Prepared to be Prepared" for the Cause of your Future.

Your Foundation will be Strong because you built your Cause on The Rock.

Jesus was Prepared to be Prepared. He had a Cause when he Won the Victory on the Cross for you.

Also, David felt like he and God deserved to Win because of being "Prepared to Prepare."

When you are prepared you feel like God is in Control and the Victory is yours. You feel like you deserve to Win.
Remember the 5 P's:

"Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance."

"Proper Planning Predicts Perfect Performance."

So what is your Cause Now?

Why?

Because God made You to WIN NOW!!!!!

David brought a Cause to Israel.

What is your Cause?

Fathers - is there no Cause to Fight for the Spiritual Life of your Family?

Mothers - is there no Cause to Bring your Children up Knowing God?

Children - is there no Cause to Fight for The Spiritual Life of your Brothers and Sisters?

Athletes - is there no Cause to go out and be a Light to the World with your God given Talent?

Students - is there no Cause to use your wisdom to prove to the World there is a God who loves them?

Pastors - is there no Cause to Preach the Word?

NOW - JUST GO!!!

God Bless,
Rick

Fw: Toughness

Team:

Today Coach Greg Laurie talks about Toughness.

What does it take to Win?

You must be Tough Physically and Mentally. This applies to every area of our life.

"If we practice soft we will play soft."

"I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified."

Paul the Apostle - 1 Corinthians 9:27

"Football (Life) isn't a Contact sport, it's a Collision sport. Dancing is a contact sport."

Vince Lombardi Head Coach Green Bay Packers

Since we need to be Tough both Physically and Mentally, how do we do it?
Linebacker / Tight End Josh Ponder says:

"But those who Wait on the lord shall Renew their Strength; they shall mount up with Wings like Eagles, they shall Run and not be weary, they shall Walk and not faint" Isaiah 40:31

"We need to have the title "ISRAEL"......
GOD GOVERNS OUR LIFE."

Stand Your Ground

When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?" — Luke 7:24

A traveler who was visiting a logging area in the northwestern United States watched with great interest as a lumberjack walking alongside a mountain stream periodically jagged his sharp hook into a log and separated it from the others.

The traveler asked the logger what he was doing.

"Well, these logs may all look alike to you," the logger said, "but I recognize that some of them are quite different.

The ones that I let pass are from trees that grow in a valley, where they are always protected from the storms. The grain on those logs is rather course.

But the logs I pull aside come from high
up in the mountains, where they are beaten by strong winds from the time they are quite small.

This TOUGHENS the trees and gives them a fine grain. We save these for choice work. They are too good to be used for ordinary lumber."

Maybe you are facing winds of adversity right now, and you wonder why. Could it be that God is saving you for a choice work? Could it be that He is allowing you to go through hardship so you will be able to do something unique that He has in store for you?

There are also winds of temptation that blow in our lives. These hot winds of enticement come out of nowhere.

Then there are the winds of compromise. Like soft summer breezes, these winds can lull us into doing the wrong thing. We need to stand our ground.

We need to hold our course. Whatever we are facing, we don't have to face it alone. There is a God who cares. We need to trust Him. And we need to remember that He will never give us more than we can handle.

Fw: GENESIS 46-47: GOD'S PLAN

Team:

Here is a great message from Chaparral Baseball Catcher Derek Quinn.

Remember the other day we talked about Going (back) up to Bethel. The place where the Coach (God) found us.

Now we see here in Derek's message God's over all plan for Jacob and how the Coach had a future and a plan for him. Jer 29:11.

The Coach even gave Jacob a new name: Israel. Israel means God Governs my life. Can we say that?

GENESIS 46-47: GOD'S PLAN

Joseph's father, Jacob, made his way to Egypt where his son is now king.

After 22 years of thinking his son was dead, a glorious reunion awaits for the father and son.

Once Jacob arrived, along with a large group of family members, the Pharoah of Egypt blesses them with the best land to raise crops, cattle, and to live.

This shows how God's plan will never fail. Yes there will be hardship and tribulation.
For Joseph it took 22 years! But in the end God is there to fulfill his plan.

So wait, be patient on the Lord and do not worry about tomorrow because it's all in God's hands and what greater peace is there knowing that?

Satan will try his hardest to pull you away from God's plan through a corrupted society of lust and sin. So separate yourself and let the Lord direct your steps and you are guaranteed the promise of a lifetime! God's plan is the BEST plan!

God Bless!

Fw: Impact Play: “Who Are You?”

Team:

Today's Point Guard is Amanda Tewksbury out of the University of Maine.

She has some great plays here. The most important play is to know who you are and why you are here. Your Sport is a Vehicle for God to use your Talents for His Greater Cause.

In Psalm 139 God tells us how we are Created and Why?

In the Book of Esther God uses this Great Point Guard Esther to orchestrate a Play that would Save the Nation of Israel.

Her Coach Mordechai challenged her by telling her she was the Starting Point Guard for this Purpose. "Now it is your time to make a Big Play."

And She did!

Now it is your time to make the Big Play!

In Heaven there is a Book of Esther about you.

The Book of You: How you fulfilled His purpose for you. How your purpose changed the World.

Thanks Amanda for this Great Message to Follow!

Boldness: "Almighty God, may they be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak the Word of God with boldness..." -- Acts 4:31

Who Are You? Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 READY:  "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come." -2 Corinthians 5:17 SET:  As a student-athlete in high school, the only thing that I liked about myself was my basketball ability. My self-worth was based completely on my performance on the court. Although I knew Christ, it took a lot of painful losing and poor performances for me once I got to college to realize that my self-worth was very skewed. After I began to read the Bible more, I realized that none of the verses showed that God loved me any less based on my performance. I did, however, find many verses based on how God viewed me as His child.
When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we begin to see that we are children of God, and that is enough. Our self-image, bad habits, weaknesses, poor performances, etc., have nothing to do with who we are or how God loves us. On the contrary, when we look down on ourselves, we actually hinder our relationship with Him. As Oswald Chambers says, "The way we continually talk about our own inability is an insult to the Creator." When we tear ourselves down, we ultimately tell God that He did a pretty bad job of creating us.
We have two options in response to this. We can choose to go to God to show us who we are and reveal our true identity, or we can choose to go to others and the world to tell us who we are. Only one will bring peaceful truth.
Enjoy who God made you to be in Christ! GO:  1. Who are you? 2. What lies about yourself do you need to stop believing? What truths about yourself do you need to start believing? 3. What do you need to do in order to see yourself as a child of God? WORKOUT:  John 1:12 Romans 5:1 Romans 8:37-39 Ephesians 1:5 ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Amanda Tewksbury is the FCA Area Representative of Bangor, Maine. She grew up in New Jersey and was a student-athlete at the University of Maine for four years. Check out the Maine FCA website at http://www.mainefca.org.

Fw: Remember when I Recruited You?

Team:

Today's Quarterback is RC Sproul. He has a great Football story to follow.

In Genesis 34, Coach Jacob was in trouble. He just finished wrestling with God.

The next chapter of his life was a Mess.

His family was in Shechem. His Daughter was raped by the Prince of Shechem. Her brothers then murdered and killed the men of Shechem. When Jacob found out his Spirit was destroyed and broken.

"Lord what went wrong? Why is this happening?"

"What has become of my family?"

The Lord said, "Jacob go (back) up to Bethel." Genesis 28

"Go back to when you were running away from your brother.

Remember your life was a mess.

Then I Recruited you. Remember that Dream when you saw a Ladder reaching to heaven with Angels going up and down the ladder." "I gave you the ball and you Scored. I made some promises to you that I want to keep.

"I AM that ladder Jacob. John 1

"Go back to the first time I Recruited you to be on the Team Jacob."

Then the Lord gave Jacob 6 steps to take.

Arise go up to Bethel: Take Action Now

Dwell there: Pray and Seek Him

Build an Alter to Him: Worship Him

Put away the foreign gods: Distractions

Be Clean: Live a clean life

Put on New Garments: A New Life John 3:16

Do you ever feel like your life is a Mess?

We all do. What do we do?

Go back up to your Bethel where God Recruited you. He wants to Recruit you again and put you in the Game.

He still has promises he wants to keep for your life. Jer 29:11

Experiencing God's Discipline
I had a football coach who had hands the size of catcher's mitts. When we got out of line, he would stand in front of us and place his hands on our shoulders. As he rebuked us, he would begin to squeeze our shoulders. When he did that to me, I could hardly keep standing.
During my days in seminary, I went through a difficult period. I went to one of my professors, Dr. John Gerstner, for counsel. When I told him what I was experiencing, he made the simple comment, "The Lord's hand is heavy on you right now." I immediately thought of my football coach. I had vivid memories of a heavy hand on me.
When God puts His heavy hand on me, it hurts far worse than any punishment wrought by my football coach. This is not to suggest that God is "heavy handed" in the pejorative sense. But His hand of discipline can be heavy indeed. It would be far worse, of course, if I screamed at Him, "Take Your hands off me!" . . . and He did. If God ever took His hands off us, we would perish in an instant.

Coram Deo: Living in the Presence of God
Thank God for keeping His hand on you.
For Further Study
Psalm 32:4: "For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer."
Psalm 94:12: "Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law."
Psalm 119:67: "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word."

Fw: Fwd: Love/Forgiveness

Team:

Here is a great message forwarded from Linebacker Tom Oneil. Today's Coaches are Martin Luther King and Raul Ries.

The Marching Band is U2. Check out the song: Pride - Martin Luther King

One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come, he to justify
One man to overthrow

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love...

"Joseph forgave his brothers even though they didn't ask for forgiveness..."

From Raul Ries

_"But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,  bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you."_ Luke 6:27-28

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has been a holiday of controversy since it was first recognized by President Ronald Reagan, on November 2, 1983. Although it was passed by Congress by an overwhelming 338 to 90 in the House of Representatives and 78 to 22 in the Senate, there were a number of states that chose not to observe the holiday. It was not until January 2000, the holiday was observed by all the states. You may ask, "Why is this important?" I believe the importance lies in what Jesus was teaching in the verses above. We are to love our enemies. We are to love those who oppose us. Jesus taught us, it is easy to love our friends and  families, but the true measure of our love is whether we love our enemies. Whether you like or dislike Martin Luther King, Jr., we can all recognize him as a man who chose to love his enemies. He was a man who chose to follow the teachings of Christ. He was a man who served the people. Many know him as the social activist who opposed racial discrimination, but many do not know the Christian man. King, Jr. was the pastor at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. It is obvious he was greatly influenced by his walk with the Lord and his study of the Bible, as his speeches often reflect the teaching style of Jesus. Throughout the years, many things will be said of King, Jr., but his love for all people and his service to his community will always be remembered. How will you be remembered? _I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear. ~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.~_

Fw: Fwd: Love/Forgiveness

Team:

Here is a great message forwarded from Linebacker Tom Oneill. Today's Coach's are Martin Luther King and Raul Ries.

The Marching Band is U2. Check out the song: Pride - Martin Luther King

One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come, he to justify
One man to overthrow

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love...

"Joseph forgave his brothers even though they didn't even ask for forgiveness..."

Fw: question of the day!

Team:

Here is a Great Play called by Linebacker Josh Ponder.

------ SMS Text ------
Question of the day!...

Why is it so important to grow up in the way that we think???...because:

"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming."
Ephesians 4:14..

MATURITY BEGINS IN YOUR MIND...right thinking is necessary for right behavior...think like a spiritual adult!

Things to work on:

FIRST - Cut back on the worlds input in your Life. if all you put into your head are wrong thoughts and ideas, then when you come to a point where you need to make a tough decision, you'll only have bad information to work with!...

SECOND - Increase the amount of spiritual input in your life...

Read the bible more!

Memorize Scripture! and Pray...this will give you deeper understanding of a particular problem in your life...

GOD BLESS!

Fw: Harvest Daily Devotion for 1/14/2011

Team:

Today's Coach is Greg Laurie. He is the Head Coach For Harvest Christian Fellowship.

Coach Jesus called a time out in John 6. It was the 4th Quarter with 10 seconds left in the game.

He asked his Quarterback Andrew what play to run. A younger new excited Running Back said, " Put me in Coach. let's run the Pistol Spread Offense and I will motion and go deep." Andrew said, that play won't work." Coach Jesus saw the Enthusiasm of this Young Running Back and said, " let's run it. It worked last time when we played the Philistines and Quarterback David beat the Philistines Middle Linebacker Goliath."

Andrew called the Play and lined the Team up. They were on the opposing team's 40 yard line. The Young RB motioned and went deep. Andrew rolled right and saw the RB open 10 yards up. He tossed it to him. The RB made a one handed catch broke 2 tackles and carried 5 people into the End Zone to win the Championship.

The Crowd of thousands were screaming and the Band was Playing.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 14, 2011 Meager Offerings And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. — John 6:11 It was a meager offering when the young boy brought his lunch of five loaves and two fish to Jesus. Even Andrew said, "But what are they among so many?" (John 6:9). But Jesus took it, blessed it, and multiplied it—and thousands were impacted. God can take your meager offering and do a lot with a little. A. W. Tozer said, "The world is waiting to hear an authentic voice, a voice from God—not an echo of what others are doing and saying, but an authentic voice." What the world needs to see today is an authentic Christian, not a perfect voice, not a flawless person (because there is no such individual), but authenticity. That is what people need to see. John Wesley said, "Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth." Imagine what would happen if just 100 believers took this to heart. What if 200 did? How about 400? How about 500? What about 800? What about 1,000? What about 2,000 or more? What would happen in our cities? What would happen in our states? What would happen in the United States? What would happen in the world? A lot. Sure, all of us are flawed. All of us fall short. None of us are qualified in and of ourselves. But God can do His work through imperfect people. In fact, it seems as though He goes out of His way to find imperfect people to work through. What God is looking for today is not ability as much as availability. Are you willing to be someone who will shake your world? Have Pastor Greg's devotions blessed you? Write and tell him! Here is a Great Message by Today's Linebacker/ Tight End - Josh Ponder.

God is in Control: Quarterback Joseph was on the bench but was a Team Player the whole time.

He gave 110 percent in every practice playing on the Scout Team (when he was a slave and when he was in jail).

Joseph Trusted the Coach (God) no matter what the circumstance was. What about us?

Fw: Reasoning Together--Being Reconciled

Team:

Here is a great message from Team Pastor Adrian Rogers.

We all have reasons for why we mess up. The bottom line is we fumbled and lost the ball. Yes there are reasons why. And yes maybe someone we look up to blew it as well.

QB King David in the Bible blew it. When it comes down to it so did we. So just like David we have to watch the game film to look at our plays and answer the Coach (the Lord). The good news is we get second, third, fouth ect.... chances to get back in the game. Psalm 51.

We need to stand next to the Coach (the Lord) on the sideline to get back in the Game. If we aren't next to Him how can He get us back in?

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

The Coach wants us back in the Game.

Reasoning Together--Being Reconciled One to Anther Devotional thought from the messages of Adrian Rogers BIBLE MEDITATION: Isaiah 1:18 - "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Every rebel has a reason for his or her actions. You've probably heard a young person say, "Well, my dad drinks, so I smoke pot." Do you know what kind of reasoning that is? Brute beast reasoning, like Peter mentions in 2 Peter 2:12. This young person doesn't think he has to obey his father. And he further reasons, "He's not worthy of my obedience." Do you know the only people who can demand perfect parents? Perfect children. The only people who can demand a perfect pastor is a perfect church member. The only person who can demand a perfect politician is a perfect citizen! There is never a license for rebellion. There are ways to reason together in a church, home, and government. ACTION POINT: A spirit of rebellion will bring a nation to its knees. Jesus gave His life to reconcile us. Can you live otherwise? Fw: Impact Play: “The Toughest Sport on

Team:

Today's Linebacker is Dillon Cummins. Dillon is a Bull Rider and gives you his Keys to Success in today's FCA Devotion.

"I think a competitor makes his own luck; that's why he's a winner. Luck, to me, is having lots of determination, lots of hard work, faith in myself and in God."

Lane Frost Bull Rider

------ Email ------
Protection "Father, protect them, give Your angels charge over them, guarding them in all their ways..."
-- Psalm 91:11

The Toughest Sport on Dirt Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 READY:  "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) SET:  The sport of bull riding is what some call "the toughest sport on dirt." It involves riding a twisting, bucking, angry bull for what every rider hopes will be eight seconds—a virtual eternity when seated on 1,800 pounds of raging power. One common denominator among bull riders is fear. The Lord says in Isaiah that we have nothing to fear because, by the glory of God, He will help us through anything we face. And that means anything from the possibility of missing clutch free-throws to the potential of getting trampled by a bull.
In my life and time as a bull rider, there have been many times I've been behind the chutes worried and scared about such things. But before I ride, I say a prayer asking the Lord to relieve my body and mind of all fear, and He does.
Famed bull rider Lane Frost once said this: "I think a competitor makes his own luck; that's why he's a winner. Luck, to me, is having lots of determination, lots of hard work, faith in myself and in God." That last bit is undoubtedly the most important. If we don't have faith in God, then we have everything in the world to fear. But when we have faith in an all-powerful God, what do we have to fear except for God himself? And when He loves us so much and works for our good in all situations, then that fear of Him becomes more of a reverence than being scared.
The Lord promised that He would never give us anything we couldn't handle. When you think about it, life is just like a career in bull riding. We hit our tough times and our strong times; we get bucked off and go to the next rodeo knowing we could either get bucked off again or make a better ride. Through it all, God will help us through all of our fears along the way. Today, may we all remember that there's nothing we can't handle with Him! GO:  1. What do you fear? 2. Do you believe God is with you and will deliver you through any situation? 3. Are you willing to let God help you through the situation? WORKOUT:  Psalm 27 ABOUT THE AUTHOR:  Dillon Cummins has been bull rider all of his life. With God's help, he has learned to overcome many fears in life and knows that the Lord will help you do the same. Has God put a lesson on your heart? Share it with others! Fw: Are you on Fire?

Team:

Today's Coach is Adrian Rogers. Coach Rogers tells a Story about Quarterback Major Ian Thomas and the Fire that gave him his Victories.

Are we Fired Up to get into the Game?

Two wide receivers were on the Road to Emmaus. Quarterback Jesus appeared to them after His resurrection. They thought their QB was out for good but now He is back.

They said, "did our Hearts not Burn with in us when he Spoke to us?"

These two receivers went on to catch many passes and were inducted into the Hall of Flame. Luke 24:13-35

Are we on Fire? Are we catching passes? Maybe we need to Speak to QB Jesus more often. Let's get into the Hall of Flame.

Burning Brightly for the Glory of God

"And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush." Exodus 3:2

Major Ian Thomas has imagined Moses saying something like this when he encountered God in the burning bush, "Would you look at that bush? It just keeps on burning for God. I wish my life could burn for God like that and keep on burning." Then Major Thomas imagined God replying, "Moses, you think this bush is so wonderful? Do you see that bush over there? I could do the same thing with it. Moses, it's not the bush - it's God in the bush. Any old bush will do."

It's not you! It's not me! We are only the vessels of God's anointing. As you surrender yourself to God today, He will fill you and use you for His glory.
Surrender yourself to God today. And as you do, He will use you. Allow His flame to burn brightly for all to see.

Fw: Leadership

Team:

Great Message here from today's Quarterback Chuck Swindoll.

Chuck was the U.S. Senate Chaplain

"The Greatest Leader is the Servant."
Matt 20:26

In the book of Genesis Joseph was a Slave then the Vice President of Egypt.

Joshua was Slave, Servant then the Starting Quarterback.

Daniel was a Slave first then Assistant Head Coach for two different Kingdoms.

Esther was a Servant Girl and was Promoted to Queen. "For such a time as this." God put her in position to Save Israel.

God has a plan and a purpose for you. Jer 29:11. It all starts with being a Servant First.

Forgotten Words by Charles R. Swindoll
Matthew 20:26; 3 John 1:9-10
"Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant." (Matthew 20:26). Forgotten words.
Truth be told, even in our churches we tend to get so caught up in a success-and-size race that we lose sight of our primary calling as followers of Christ. The "celebrity syndrome" so present in our Christian thought and activities just doesn't square with the attitudes and messages of Jesus. We have skidded into a pattern whereby the celebrities and top dogs in our church life call the shots . . . and it is difficult to be a servant when you're used to telling others what to do.
Maybe I need to clarify what I mean. In the body of Christ, there is one Head. Christ Jesus is Lord of His body.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities---all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. (Colossians 1:15-18) No human being dare take that position. A man named Diotrephes, mentioned in verses 9 and 10 of John's third letter, attempted to do so and was openly rebuked by the apostle. Diotrephes's account is a warning to anyone who desires to become the "church boss."
It may be a board member, a pastor, a teacher, a musician, a former officer or former pastor in a church. No matter who, the Diotrephes mentality has no place in the body. Only Christ is the Head. All the rest of us are in the class Jesus spoke of in Matthew 20: servants.
You're probably saying, "But there must be leadership to get the job done." Yes, I agree. But it must be servant-hearted leadership among all.

Fw: Leadership

Team:

Here is another Great Example of Leadership by upcoming Star Quarterback Joshua.

Here the Coach calls a play that is very unorthodox. Joshua follows the orders of the coach and executes the play.

Sometimes we can't understand why we have to follow the Playbook (Bible). Many times the Playbook seems unreasonable. We say things like:

"Everyone else is participating in it. Why can't I?

"None of my friends go to Bible Studies. Why should I?

Jesus said, "For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it" (Matthew 7:13,14).

Joshua didn't know why God called this play but he Trusted God's Playbook not his own. This Is Great Leadership.

from Day by Day with the Persecuted Church,

By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days.  (Hebrews 11:30)
Joshua
After Joshua's voluntary surrender of his leadership to the commander of the army of the Lord, some more strange orders followed. "March around the city." "Make seven priests carry trumpets in front of the Ark." "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout."
Very unusual military commands. An army does not show itself to the enemy. You don't ask the chaplains to walk in the front lines, waving their Bibles.
It seemed so illogical, unprofessional, and unmilitary. God's way of doing things often seems unreasonable.
Joshua had to learn that this was not going to be his war, done in his way, but God's war, done in God's way. He responded with an unquestioning obedience.
Faith expressed in obedience to God's Word is always the key to victory. And victory came because Joshua and his people fully trusted God.
When you face a "Jericho" in your life, you too may see the walls tumble down as you trust in God and in His way of handling a crisis situation.

Serving "God, help them to be sensitive to the needs around them and give them a desire to meet those needs as they model Jesus' example of serving..."
-- John 13:12-15

Playing to Win Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 READY:  "And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness. For sin will not rule over you, because you are not under law but under grace." -Romans 6:13-14 SET:  In any sport, when a team has the upper hand whether through having better players or a big lead in the score, their coach will often encourage them by saying, "We play to win." So often, teams that have the upper hand will play down to the level of their competition. Instead of playing to win, they start playing to not lose. In those times, they will often let the competition come back and, many times, beat them. The same thing happens in our walk with Christ. Every day, we face temptation as Satan tries to find a way to bring us down. He knows that because we have Christ on our side, we have the upper hand. But when we lose sight of that and start playing not to lose, we become very vulnerable to Satan's attacks. Instead of focusing on Christ, we focus on the temptation itself and try to stay away from it.
It's not a bad thing to avoid temptation, but we shouldn't focus on it. We need to remain focused on the Lord and on becoming like Him by maturing in our faith. We have the ultimate upper hand through Jesus Christ who has redeemed us and conquered all sin for us. Through Him we have the victory and can walk in it every moment of every day.
Because we have the upper hand through Christ, we have to start playing like it. Jesus always trumps sin. If we play to win, focusing on becoming more like Christ, we will find victory over temptation and sin every time. GO:  1. What does "playing to win" look like in your life? How does it compare to playing "not to lose"? 2. What are some temptations you regularly face? 3. How can focusing on Christ help you win the battle over temptation? 4. Think of someone in your life you can talk to about the battle over temptation. How can you enlist their teamwork (e.g., prayer, accountability) to help you stand strong?

Fw: Leadership

Team:

Here is Great message about Leadership and why we let God take over. QB Joshua is leading his team however the task is way too big for him. Josh needs help.

" My Strength is made perfect in Weakness...... For when I am Weak I am Strong."
1Corinthians 12:9-10

"Whenever there is a Problem there is an Opportunity."

Josh was used to being the Back-Up QB to the Starting QB Moses. Now when it is time to realize he is really in over His head it is God's Opportunity to Win a Victory.

God loves to Help the Humble Underdog.
In 1994 Quarterback Kurt Warner of the Rams was working at a Supermarket stocking shelves. In 1999 He Led his Team to Winning The Super Bowl.

"God gives Grace to the Humble."
James 4:6

In the following look how the Coach (God) uses Josh's Leadership to lead Israel to Victory.

"...are you for us or for our enemies?" "Neither", he replied. ... Then Joshua fell face down to the ground in reverence and asked him: "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"   (Joshua 5:13,14)
Joshua
Shortly before the first big confrontation with Jericho, Joshua had a very strange encounter himself.
He had only just been called to be the leader of his people, and now he has been asked to surrender his leadership to the commander of the army of the Lord.
Joshua's spiritual maturity is proven by the fact that he would rather be second-in-command in God's army, than first-in-command of his own.
When asked if the man was for or against the Israelites, his only reply was, "neither." What the messenger of the Lord was really saying was "I have not come to take sides. I have come to take over."
Whoever is willing to surrender the leadership to God will experience that no wall is too high for God, no river too deep, no problem too great.
Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible; He does the things others cannot do.

Alice and Don,

Kaylee is a Modern Day Joan of Arc. Here is a message that will give her the Will and Determination to keep Fighting for the Hope and Future of those Spirit Spark Plugs. Jer 29:11

Team:

In 1776 we had a Team that was Focused on their Goal. Our Founding Fathers and Mothers loved God with everything they had. They Fought, they Bled, they Froze, their Limbs were Amputated and many Died for our Freedom.

Thomas Paine refers to Joan of Arc in this message. Joan of Arc (1412-1431) fought for France at a very young age and was responsible for many Victories including the Coronation of Charles VII. She said she had Divine Godly Inspiration. (In Judges 4-5 read about Debrah).

Joan of Arc was captured and burned at the stake at 19. Talk about commitment. Are we that committed?

Leader and Quarterback Thomas Paine was 39 when this was written. He was one of our Founding Fathers influenced by Benjamin Franklin and he influenced Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Edison.

We are so Lucky and Fortunate to have Leaders that were Committed to the God of the Bible.

We have a Great (Team) Country because we have a Great God that gives willing recipients Joan of Arc Inspiration. It is up to us The Next Generation to keep it going.

American Minute with Bill Federer

December 23

After the Continental Army was driven out of New Jersey, an article
titled "The American Crisis" was published in the Pennsylvania
Journal, DECEMBER 23, 1776.

Written by an aide-de-camp to General Nathanael Greene named Thomas
Paine, General Washington ordered it read to the troops:

"These are the times that try men's souls.

The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis,
shrink from the service of his country...

Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this
consolation with us that the harder the conflict, the more glorious
the triumph."

Thomas Paine continued:

"What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly....

Heaven knows how to put a price upon its goods; and it would be
strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be
highly rated...

God Almighty will not give up a people to military destruction...who
have so earnestly...sought to avoid the calamities of war."

Paine concluded:

"The whole English army, after ravaging the kingdom of France, was
driven back...by a few broken forces headed by a woman, Joan of Arc.

Would that heaven might inspire some Jersey maid to spirit up her
countrymen...

'Show your faith by your works,' that God may bless you...

I thank God, that I fear not."

Do you ever doubt your ability?

Do you ever get frozen with fear?

Back-up QB Joshua is now ready to get into the game.

This is the Biggest Game in the last 40 years. Israel is a 42 pt. underdog. A lot of the First String players were injured and Starting Quarterback Moses had passed away just recently.

QB Joshua had a great Wide Receiver who was fearless. His name was Caleb.

from Day by Day with the Persecuted Church,

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
Joshua
"Be strong and courageous." Four times these words are repeated in the first chapter of Joshua. That can only mean one thing, Joshua was afraid. He needed the encouragement. But when you think about it, how strange, if anybody could be expected to show courage, it would have been Joshua. After all, he was the youngest general in the Israelite army, which says it all. He and Caleb were the only spies who came back with a positive report after their expedition to the Promised Land. While the other ten spies were full of fear, Joshua and Caleb were full of faith and courage.
But now fear seems to have caught up with Joshua. Yet it is not fear of man that bothers him. Neither is it fear of danger, or fear to enter into battle. Joshua is frightened by the enormous spiritual responsibility which rests upon his shoulders, to take the people of Israel to the Promised Land is not a small thing. This responsibility intimidates Joshua. Such a task frightens him. That is why the Lord encourages him over and over again by telling him, "The Lord your God will be with you!"
Then no wall proves to be too high and no giant too strong.
Are there similar walls and giants in your life? Do you feel small and weak like Joshua did? Today the Lord is saying to you, "be strong and courageous, for I, the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Oregon: Win the day, win the championship

Oct 20

Chip Kelly's mantra for the Oregon football program is not "Win a national championship" or even "Win the Pac-10." It's "Win the day." And that's not just about Saturdays. Or Thursday nights. It's also about Mondays and Fridays and Sundays. And even days during off-weeks, which Kelly scoffs at the very notion of.

"We don't have a week off," he harrumphed during the Ducks, er, week without a game last week.

So being ranked No. 1 in both major polls for the first time in school history and No. 2 in the BCS standings feels like an abstraction that has little immediate and concrete value today. Or next Monday. Or on Nov. 17.

Kelly did note he might be more effusive about it on Dec. 5, the day after the final regular-season game.

It was a mild surprise during Kelly's media sessions this week, however, that he actually opted to fully entertain the topic of his team's new, lofty standing. Yes, he's aware of it. Yes, it's pretty cool. Yes, he knows it's fun for his players. Yes, there is some value to being ranked so highly at midseason. No, it doesn't have anything to do with winning the day. And, no, he doesn't plan to talk about it with his players.

"Obviously, it's out there," Kelly said. "It's not like we're trying to avoid it. Or let's not talk about it because it's a jinx. Really, what it is is it's nice to be ranked. Obviously, it's beneficial to us because we don't have to go far [up in the rankings]. But we still have to win. And if we lose one -- that's something unique about college football now -- if you lose one you're probably out of it."

The Ducks have one Thursday night against a baffling UCLA team that was good enough to win big at Texas and bad enough to get crushed by California. And, yes, if the Ducks lose this one they are almost certainly out of the national championship race.

The burden of being No. 1 appears real. Alabama seemed to have a stranglehold on it until it lost by two touchdowns to a mediocre South Carolina team. Ohio State then fumbled it away at Wisconsin. If the Ducks should go rear-end-over-tea-kettle against the Bruins, we might have to start wondering if it's 2007 all over again, when a top ranking served mostly as a bull's-eye for an ax stroke between the eyes.

Senior receiver Jeff Maehl has had a front-row seat during the Ducks rise to the elite of college football. They were ranked No. 2 in 2007 before quarterback Dennis Dixon went down with a season-ending knee injury. They finished ranked in the top-10 in 2008. They ended USC's seven-year run atop the Pac-10 last fall. The unexplored territory of No. 1 isn't actually that shocking to the Ducks system.

"It's cool," Maehl said. "It's something the school is never experienced before. It's something this program has been building to for a while now. You got to give a lot of credit to the past classes that came through here. We're excited to see what we can do with it."

Kelly said he's confident that his locker room culture will prevent players from getting drunk on fawning praise from media and fans. He turns the notion back onto itself toward the potential effects of negative outside appraisals, recalling the outpouring of doubt and derision the Ducks' rotten performance in the 2009 opener at Boise State inspired.

Folks, you might recall, suggested that Kelly, in his first year as head coach after replacing Mike Bellotti, was in over his head. It's possible that no second-year coach has seemed less "in over his head" than Kelly, who just got a contract extension and raise, but that was a popular impression one game into his tenure.

"We learned a really valuable lesson in the opening game of 2009," he said. "We lost to Boise State and if we had listened to outside influences we might as well have canceled our season. We were done for the year. It was, 'Oh, my God, we're the worst football team ever assembled!' Our guys didn't pay attention to it when it was obviously negative in that situation. So therefore you can't just flip the switch and say, 'Well, now it's positive -- let's listen to it!'"

The target, however, is now squarely on Oregon. UCLA is beaten up with injuries, including the decidedly questionable status of starting quarterback Kevin Prince, but has shown itself capable of playing well on a big stage against a highly ranked foe. The Bruins are fast, too. The Ducks' speed advantage, so obvious against Stanford and Tennessee, won't be as dramatic Thursday.

Maehl said he thinks a fast start, which the Ducks haven't produced often this year, is a key. Stepping on the gas early might leave the Bruins hopelessly lost in the fumes.

"One of the biggest things is when they get down they start to lose focus a little bit," he said. "I think if we can jump on them pretty quick, it's going to be an advantage for us."

If the Ducks do overcome the Bruins, that sets up a marquee showdown at USC on Oct. 30. The Trojans, who are off this week, looked like their old-school selves while poleaxing Cal last weekend. But, after that, things don't get any easier trying to maneuver through a deep Pac-10. The home stretch of Washington, at Cal, Arizona and at Oregon State is not a schedule conducive to perfection.

But Kelly isn't concerned with those challenging days ahead. He only wants to win today.

Of course, for his players -- and here's a guess for some coaches, too -- it's difficult to completely block out the scintillating potential endgame, which is only the pinnacle of college football. Oregon, after all, has never won a national championship.

"That's a hard thing to not think about," Maehl said. "I know guys do their best to try not to think about it, to try to focus just on the week. But definitely, if you're in position to play for a national title, even if you know, it's just halfway through the season, it's hard to not think about it. To me, it should just make us more confident coming out each week. The best I can do is to treat each game like it's the national championship, because if we lose we understand those hopes go away."

In other words, if you keep winning days, the last one will come with a crystal football.

What does it take to Win?

When Quarterback Paul Apostle wrote this he was in a Phillippian jail for spreading the Good News that people could have Hope and a Future in Christ. In other words he was on a perceived losing streak. However this is where God gave him Strength, Vision and Freedom for his future and the future of the people in this city. Check out Acts 16 when you have a moment.

Coach Rogers gives the Keys to QB Paul's Success in the following devotion.

Pressing Toward the Prize in This New Year Devotional thought from the messages of Adrian Rogers BIBLE MEDITATION: Philippians 3:14 - "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Do you want to win the prize that Paul talks about? He didn't want to fail. He strained with every inch, every ounce, every nerve, and every part of his body to win the prize. He had ambition. But it was more than just ambition, it was a holy ambition. He said, "I want that prize and I'm going to have it. I'm going to be like an athlete who denies his own body worldly pleasures. I'm going to train like an athlete. I'm going to stay in shape for the Lord Jesus. I'm going to do all that is necessary that I may win." ACTION POINT: Friend, the Bible clearly teaches that we ought to be ambitious, but for the right reason. And that reason is for Jesus. In this new year, may God deliver us from pint-sized ambitions and small-time aspirations.
