TEAM 180:

What Moves you today?

Where does your mind go when you get Moved?

What does your mind do when you are Moved?

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

Maybe you Fear losing your Job?

Maybe you Fear losing your Reputation?

Maybe you Fear losing Control?

Maybe you Fear having to go without that Drug , Alcoholic Beverage, Cigarette etc...?

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

Maybe you Fear losing a loved one or even yourself to Cancer or another Disease?

Maybe you are just Anxious about life and don't know why?

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

Friends, let's face Reality. All of us are pretty much in the same boat here.

All of us have one or all of the above Circumstances at some time in Life.

Queen Esther had these Anxious moments until her Uncle encouraged her and reminded her of her Purpose.

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

So how do we Overcome the events that Move us in the Wrong Direction and into a state of unproductive Inertia?

Paul was Persecuted, Beaten, Lied About, Ridiculed, Made Fun Of etc... yet wasn't Moved. How did he do this and avoid the Whirlwind of the "What Ifs" and Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda's?

"But none of these things Move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my Race with Joy, and the Service which I Received from the Lord Jesus, to Testify to the Good News of the Grace of God." Acts 20:24

Notice that Paul had 3 things he relied on:

- Paul lived with Eternal Purpose!
- Paul didn't pander to his own "dear life!"
- Paul knew his Job and Purpose!

Paul didn't live a life of I Have To or Else...!

Paul Lived a Life of "I Get To!"

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

The Attitude of GET TO gave Paul Tremendous Power!

The Attitude of GET TO gave Paul the Power to live without the Fear of Circumstances that would Move him into Unproductive Inertia.

The Power of GET TO gave Paul Eternal Joy beyond day to day happiness.

The Power of GET TO allows you to experience Joy that comes from Within and can't be Moved!

The Power of GET TO knows that Happiness can be Moved in a split second!

Paul's Attitude of GET TO Believes that he is in the Race to Win!

Both Esther and Paul's Attitude of GET TO wasn't going to allow them to look to the Right or to the Left but STRAIGHT to the Finish Line!

Paul and Esther also knew that they were here to Serve others by sharing The Good News!

When we Run the Race with this Attitude and Power of GET TO we will be Moved in a Positive Way!

When we Run the Race with this Attitude and the Power of GET TO everything in Life is Suddenly Downhill!

When we Run the Race with this Attitude and the Power of GET TO Suddenly mistakes are good! Thomas Edison

180 SECRET - WHAT MOVES YOU? GET TO OR HAVE TO?

Just Go 180! Run To Win!

ETERNITY STARTS NOW! ESN 180!

There is an All American Linebacker on the South Carolina Gamecocks Football Team that has been in the news all week.

He feels he doesn't need to practice with the Team. He feels he is too good to go through all the drills.

The Coach is in a tough position. If he let's this player get away with it it will bring the rest of the Team down. On the other hand if he reprimands the player then the player will fake an injury.

180 SECRET - GREEN EQUAlS GROWTH - RIPE EQUALS ROT!

If the player fakes an injury and the Coach says to get in there anyway then what could happen? If the player does get a career ending injury then the Coach has a possible lawsuit on his hands and his career is at risk.
As you can tell one Selfish decision can destroy a whole Team and the Reputation of the University. This will have long term effects if the situation isn't resolved immediately.

180 SECRET - GREEN EQUAlS GROWTH - RIPE EQUALS ROT!

This is a Great Player with a Poor Attitude. The NFL Teams have already blackballed him because of his reputation.

What if he was that Great and a Servant? He would make Millions in the NFL and possibly be the Greatest Linebacker in the history of the NFL.

180 SECRET: Jesus told His friends that the Greatest in the Kingdom of God is the one who is Green and Ready to Serve!

This same scenario above can be True for us in a different way!

180 SECRET - GREEN EQUAlS GROWTH - RIPE EQUALS ROT!

We have to always be Humble and Green and willing to keep learning and getting Better Every Day!

On our High School Football Team all 100 players would get in a Huddle and say the following:

"Every day and every way we get a little better!"

We did this to Remind us that each day is Super important and at the End of a Season all those days of getting better a little at a time add up.

180 SECRET - GREEN EQUAlS GROWTH - RIPE EQUALS ROT!

The Coaches used to say, "Put each Wind Sprint in the Bank to Collect Interest so when you need A Little Extra at the end of the game it will be there for you to cash in!"

Friends, God never wants us to rest on what was done yesterday and in the past. God wants us to continue to Grow.

Green Fruit grows and as it ages it gets Ripe! The Growth and Excitement is the Journey and the Challenge of becoming way more then you ever expected!

180 SECRET: Always Stay Green!

God has a Great Plan for you to Grow Today and into the Future!

What are your Dreams today?

Did you know that God put those Dreams in your Heart when He put your inward parts together in Mom's Womb? Psalm 139

My Beautiful Wife Jana knows this and that is why she Read something about God to you all those years every night at bedtime.

Mom loves you with and Everlasting Patient Love and now it's time to pull out some of those lessons that she shared with you that are Stored in your Bank.

TEAM 180:

Have you ever been Lost?

Remember what it was like to be wondering aimlessly everywhere with no Purpose and no Hope?

For many of us it was that way:

UNTIL WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

Jesus told some people that were Outcasts by the Church and the World the following:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
(Matthew 11:28, NIV)

These people were looking for a true home to rest in but couldn't find one.

Today people are still looking for a place to rest and call home. A place where there is no judgement or critics. A home where you are accepted just the way you are with no pretending.

2000 years later Chuck and Kay Smith showed Love and Grace to some Outcasts that were searching for meaning in life as they opened a Tent in Costa Mesa California.

1000's of People said:

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

The Outcasts of the 60's and 70's were:

The Hippies, Homosexuals, Drug Addicts, Haight Ashbury etc...

Lonnie Frisbee from Haight Ashbury was a Hippie, Drug Addict and Homosexual.

Lonnie showed up after getting kicked out by every church in the West and began The Jesus People Revolution at Calvary Costa Mesa. Chuck and Kay Smith welcomed Lonnie and his friends from San Francisco in with Jesus's open Arms.

Keith Green showed up with a Piano and a Passion for God!

Darrell Mansfield showed up with a Harmonica and a Love Song!

Greg Laurie showed up with a Cartoon and a Broom!

Raul Ries showed up with Anger and a Broken Spirit!

Mike MacIntosh showed up with a Vision and a Broken Marriage!

They all said the same thing:

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

People just showed up as they were!

The Theme was:

"All may come!"

The Blind man Jesus healed said:
"Yesterday I was Blind and now I See!"

Now Thousands of young people could see and find their way Home!

Chuck and Kay opened their doors to the Outcasts and never looked back.

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

Christian Rock was Born!

VW Buses would show up from San Francisco to play their new Songs to God at the Tent on Sunflower.

Beach Baptisms at Corona Del Mar were like Jesus and John at the Jordon River.

Time Magazine was all over it.

Worship became a way of life not only on Sundays but Everyday!

People kept saying:

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

Suddenly every High School in Southern Cal had Bible Studies on Campus.

People were throwing away drugs and opening Bibles.

At Edison High School we had the Christian Fish Symbol on our Football Helmets.

In 1980 we had Communion after football games with John Boyer instead of going to raging parties.

We went 14-0 that year, Won the State Championship and God was Glorified!

Thousands of young people found Unconditional Love for the First Time at Church. The Church was Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

This was the Counter Culture Church Revolution by Chuck and Kay Smith.

This New Revolution called the Jesus People Movement focused only on Jesus Christ and the Work of His Holy Spirit in our Lives.

The Main Themes were:

"They will know you are my disciples by your Love for one another!"

"The Greatest Gift of all is Love!"

"It was plain to see it's not the way it used to be! Preacher ain't talking Religion no more he just wants to Praise The Lord!"

Do you need Rest in your Heart, Mind and Soul today?

The Answer is the same today as it was 2000 years ago. It is the same Message today as it was in 1970.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

Jesus said,

"hey guys don't stress out! I'm going to my Fathers House to Prepare a Home for you so you can come and always be with me!"

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

One of Pastor Chuck's favorite verses was:

"The Field is Wide with Harvest but the laborers are few. Pray for the Lord to send the Laborers into the Harvest!"

"Never trade what you don't know for what you do know!" Chuck Smith

We Know He Lives!

WE FOUND OUR WAY HOME!

Thank you Chuck and Kay for showing three generations THE WAY HOME!

Just Go!

Rick
