GREAT LEADERS FIND GOOD NEWS!

Team:

When was the last time you heard some really good news?

We hear gloom and doom economics daily. We hear about a coming depression worst than 1929.

We hear about Obamacare and how it has stopped business from hiring. As a result unemployment is high.

The Middle East is on the brink of war.

What about family situations?

Then there is disappointment. Maybe we didn't get that promotion. Maybe someone ran out on the marriage. Maybe our kids messed up.

Does this kind of news drain you?

GREAT LEADERS FIND GOOD NEWS IN EVERY SITUATION!

Friends, this is life. Jesus never promised an easy life but he did promise to be with us through the difficult times.

Do you want some good news?

Here it is:

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn." Isaiah 61:1-2

GREAT LEADERS FIND GOOD NEWS IN EVERY SITUATION!

Jesus quoted this verse in the New Testament as He was teaching in the synagogue . He said, "today this verse is fulfilled in your presence."

Jesus came here to give the Good News that God has Great Plans for us now and in the future.

Jesus coached His disciples to also pass on the Good News to the next generation and beyond.

What does Good News bring?
Good News brings Hope.
Good News brings Confidence.

Good News allows us to perform at the highest level. Good News sets us Free to be all that God wants us to be.

Good News Frees us from sin. Jesus took care of that once and for all on the cross.

We were captives and slaves to this world. The Good News is we can be set free.

Now how do you feel?

Good News brings a Smile and a Cheerful Heart. "A cheerful heart is good medicine."

Team, do we find Good News to tell everyday? When we come home at night do we honor our family with Good News?

When we talk with God are we Grateful? God also wants to hear Good News from us. Our Good News Fires God up.

Find Good News to share everyday. When we share Good News it feeds off of itself and becomes more and more Powerful.

This is Real Power and this is Good News.

GREAT LEADERS FIND GOOD NEWS IN EVERY SITUATION!

"Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!"

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY

Team:

Have you ever been in a situation where someone did not honor the contract?

There are many reasons contracts are broken. No matter what the reason it is it is stressful for both parties involved.

Sometimes the situation is because of a bad move we have made to break the contract. We kick ourselves and come up with excuses of why we did it.

There is hurt and pain with the innocent and guilty. Nevertheless the Contract was broken.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Our relationship with God is based on a Contract. Unfortunately we Broke the Contract. Here God tells us He is here for us but we have an issue:

"Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." Isaiah 59:1-2

We broke the Contract. Our sins have separated us from God. Many people blame God for things that happen. God didn't break the contract we did.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Friends, God is reaching out to us but He can't touch us because of sin. This is why Jesus came. To bridge the gap between God and man. While Jesus was on the cross one hand reached out to us and the other hand reached out to God the Father.

Jesus connects us to the Father.

We broke the contract with God. God still honored the contract and sent Jesus to pay our penalty and connect us back to God.

"As for me, this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants—from this time on and forever," says the LORD. Isaiah 59:21

God found a way to honor the contract even though we broke it.

GREAT LEADERS SEARCH FOR GOD!

Team:

Have you ever felt like you were at the end of your rope?

Do you ever feel hopeless?

This was David in Psalm 70. This is a Psalm he wrote to relieve the Pressure and the Stress in his Life.

"What a great gift from God! We have the opportunity to write and play music Searching for God."

When we do this look what God gives us.

GREAT LEADERS SEARCH FOR GOD!

"But may all who search for you
be filled with joy and gladness in you.
May those who love your salvation
repeatedly shout, "God is great! But as for me, I am poor and needy;
please hurry to my aid, O God.
You are my helper and my savior;
O Lord, do not delay." Prov 70:4-5

David knew the answer to all his problems. He said when we Search for God we get filled with a Joy and Gladness.

GREAT LEADERS SEARCH FOR GOD!

These people are so fired up and excited about what God is doing in their lives they shout, "God is Great!"

He is basically contrasting his poor neediness to God's Greatness.

David realized at an early age that he needed the Lord to guide and direct his life.

Paul said it is when we are weak that God is Strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Did you hear that? I'm actually stronger when I'm weak?

The Word says in John1, "He must increase and I must decrease."

GREAT LEADERS SEARCH FOR GOD!

Friends, at some point in our life we will feel like we are at the end of our rope. We will feel like we can't hold on any longer.

David was at this point in his life. He says when we search for the Lord we get filled with Joy and Gladness.

Proverbs 17:22 says, "a cheerful heart is good medicine."

When we search for the Creator of the Universe He will respond with Peace, Joy and Gladness. The next thing He does is give us a great Attitude to Endure.

GREAT LEADERS SEEK GOD FIRST!

Team:

Do you ever ask why? Do you ever wonder why things happen the way they do?

Why do bad things happen to good people?

There are a lot of why this and why that questions that we will never figure out.

Sometimes it gets frustrating doesn't it?

In Isaiah 54 the people had the same questions we have today. Here is what the Lord says.

GREAT LEADERS SEEK GOD FIRST!

"Seek the LORD while he may be found;
call on Him while he is near." Isaiah 54

Isaiah encourages us to seek the Lord Now. This is our opportunity!

When we wonder why this and why that Matthew has some great advice to get us out of ourselves and into God.

Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you."

GREAT LEADERS SEEK GOD FIRST!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 54

Friends, when we seek God first and realize He has plans for us that we are beyond our imagination then we can get control of our emotions.

"That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him." 2 Cor 2:9

GREAT LEADERS SEEK GOD FIRST!

Our first move when we are asking all the why questions is to Seek God First and everything else will fall into place.

GREAT LEADERS SEEK GOD FIRST!

GREAT LEADERS BRING GOOD NEWS

Team:

Did you know God loves it when we Encourage each other?

Did you know God loves it when we lift each other up?

God loves it when we enter a room with His Light, Joy and Optimism radiating out of our life.

GREAT LEADERS BRING GOOD NEWS!

How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
Isaiah 52:7

The Lord loves it when we:

- Bring Good News
- Proclaim Peace
- Bring Good Tidings
- Proclaim Salvation
- Proclaim "Our God Reigns"

GREAT LEADERS BRING GOOD NEWS!

Friends, this is Good News! What if we went to work or school everyday with this great attitude? I guarantee you your Team will accomplish great things.

Fathers, what if we came home every night with this type of Good News?
What if we were full of Joy and Optimism every time we entered a room?

This is what Jesus meant when He said, "you are the Light of the World."

GREAT LEADERS KNOW GOD IS IN CHARGE!

Team:

Do you ever wonder what God's ultimate plan is for your life?

Does God even know my name?

Does God have a future for me and my family?

GREAT LEADERS KNOW GOD IS IN CHARGE!

Here in Isaiah we see God telling the nation that He already has a plan in place 150 years from now. God knew Israel was going to get taken over by Babylon.

After the 70 years of captivity the Lord had a plan in place to rebuild the city. The leader's name would be Cyrus of the Medo- Persian Empire.

"I will raise up Cyrus[a] in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city
and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty."
Isaiah 45:11-13

GREAT LEADERS KNOW GOD IS IN CHARGE!

God knows the future and knows how to bail us out of situations and re-build our lives.

Israel made mistakes and had to go through the process of fixing the fallout from the mistakes.

We also make mistakes that affect our lives. The enemy tries to get us to think there is no hope for the future. The enemy tries to convince us that God is done with us.

Friends, God is so good! He already has a plan in place to fix our mistakes.

Just like God had a plan for Israel and named Cyrus 150 years before he was born, God also has a plan for us. God is already working on a plan for our Great Grandchildren.

Yes God knows your name and has a Great Plan for you.

"And why have I called you for this work? Why did I call you by name (Cyrus) when you did not know me? It is for the sake of Jacob my servant, Israel my chosen one."
Isaiah 45:4

GREAT LEADERS KNOW GOD IS IN CHARGE!

"Ten Percent of Life is made up of what happens to you--the other 90 percent is how you respond to what happens to you."

When we know God is In Charge and has been preparing our future we can Execute our game plan with Confidence!

Fw: GREAT LEADERS ENDURE!

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see God speaking through Isaiah to lift up the Team.

Life has a way of bringing out our True Potential. James 1

Have you ever worked hard and given everything you had? You put in many hours and years in the gym and on the track just to keep hitting a wall?

This is what the people in Isaiah's time and future generations were going to through.

GREAT LEADERS ENDURE!

Isaiah didn't promise them that everything would be smooth sailing while they were going through these tough times.

Isaiah motivated them by speaking God's Word of Encouragement.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18-19

Friends, Leaders and Teammates, God is going Before us to Pave the way:

- Forget the Former Things!

- Don't dwell on the past!

- I'm doing a New Thing!

- Now it Springs Up!

- Perceive it! Own It! Dwell on the Future!
- God is making a way in the desert!

- God is putting Streams in the

Wasteland!

Now it Springs up! God is paving a way in our desert and giving us streams of Living Water to Endure through life's Finish Line.

GREAT LEADERS ENDURE!

Endure means: Don't give in; keep striving.

"In Life it's not how hard you hit but how hard you get hit and knocked down and keep getting back up!". Rocky

GREAT LEADERS TRUST THE LORD!

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook the Lord is communicating with the people through Isaiah.

He says, "have I ever steered you wrong? Everything I said in the past has come true. The future things I tell you are also going to come true."

"I am the Lord; this is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. See former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you."

Every prophecy in the Bible has come true up to this point.

There are over 300 prophecies that came true about the coming of Jesus. There are hundreds about the second coming of Jesus that have already come true.

There are prophecies from 1000's of years ago coming true monthly.

Jesus said, "I tell you these things before they happen so when they do happen you might believe."

This is one thing that separates the Bible and its authenticity over any other book.
Experts have been challenged to find one false prophecy in the Bible. Everything has happened the way God said it would happen.

GREAT LEADERS TRUST THE LORD!

Fw: GREAT LEADERS PROTECT THEIR TREASURE

Team:

Have you ever been tricked by someone? Maybe it was at school? Maybe someone on the job lied an deceived you?

This is what happens to Hezekiah in today's One Year Playbook.

GREAT LEADERS PROTECT THEIR TREASURE!

"At that time Marduk-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of his illness and recovery." Isaiah 39

Hezekiah was probably thinking "what a cool guy! This guy cares about me? Marduk, the King of Babylon thinks I'm cool?"

"Hezekiah received the envoys gladly and showed them what was in his storehouses—the silver, the gold, the spices, the fine olive oil—his entire armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.". Isaiah 39

Hezekiah showed all of the Treasures of the Nation to Marduk. This was a huge mistake.

GREAT LEADERS PROTECT THEIR TREASURE!

Marduk was setting Hezekiah up to rob him and his family in the future. Marduk was very cleaver and knew Hezekiah's weakness.

The enemy also knows our weakness and will attack it.

Marduk's information was passed onto the Next generations. Nebuchadnezzar heard of all the wealth in Jerusalem. A few years later Nebuchadnezzar invaded Jerusalem and took all the Treasure.

The enemy still works that way today. He will show "kindness and that he cares." to make us let our guard down. Then he pulls us in.

The enemy wanted to rob and kill Hezekiah's future offspring.

Friends and Leaders, the enemy can luer us in as well. When we get deceived and let our guard down we are sitting ducks.

We need to Protect our Treasure.

Our number one Treasure is our Family and Children.

Jesus said, "for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matt 6

God and Family is where our Heart needs to be. Steve Fararr says it's like a Platoon in the Vietnam War. We are the Leader of our Platoon. How are we going to Protect our Platoon and come out alive?

Ephesians 6 shows us how to protect ourselves and our families from the enemy.

You and your family are His Treasure so let your light shine so your family will Glorify and Honor God.

GREAT LEADERS PROTECT THEIR TREASURE!

Have a Powerful Day!!

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED

Team:

Do you know God is committed to You? When God commits to us He is all in. He will do whatever He can to communicate with us.

Here in Isaiah 37 the nation is threatened by Assyria. Hezekiah was very worried. Assyria was the most brutal nation ever. They punished their prisoners with the most horrific torture the world has ever seen.

Imagine how frightened the people were. Israel was worried that God didn't care for them anymore.

Friends, did you know that God always keeps His commitments? We may make huge mistakes and break the contract but God stays committed to us.

"For I will defend this city, to save it for My own sake and for the my servant David's sake." Isaiah 37:35

"Adversity is the diamond dust Heaven polishes its jewels with."

Hezekiah was going through a major trial here. Just like God is Committed to us Hezekiah was Committed to Israel.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

Do we ever give up on people that continually fall away? Remember, God didn't give up on Israel and God didn't give up on us.

Why?

Because, God is committed to us and wants the best for us. Sometimes we bring situations on ourselves. If israel would have been following the Playbook and living for God this situation with Assyria would have never happened.

The Lord says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

God doesn't give up on us. God wants us to win. God is committed.

In the same way we need to stay committed to God and people we love. If someone has fallen we need to pick them up and Encourage them.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

Team:

Have you ever been threatened?

Has your Team ever been threatened?

Is there a Crises going on with someone you know?

Here in Isaiah we see Hezekiah and Israel are being threatened by Assyria. Rabshakeh is the messenger of King Sennacherib. ISAIAH 33:10-36:22

The enemy wants to put fear in us. The enemy will use messengers like Rabshakeh to tear us down and threaten us.

GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

Isaiah encouraged King Hezekiah and the people of Israel.

"Thus says the Lord: do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me." Isaiah 37:6

Friends, do you know someone on your Team that needs to be Encouraged today?

The Lord wants to shine through you to Encourage and give people on your Team Hope.

Your Team is your family, friends, neighbors ect..

Maybe they are being threatened. Maybe someone at work or school is trying to intimidate them.

Isaiah was able to Encourage his Teammates in a time of crises because he was confident in the Word of God.

Why was he confident?

Because he meditated on it day and night. Psalm 1

GREAT LEADERS SHOW COMPASSION!

Team:

Did you know that God wants to pour His Love out to us, our families and our Teams?

God has so much in store for us. He longs to be with us. When we fall away from Him He hurts because He knows what we are doing to ourselves.

GREAT LEADERS SHOW COMPASSION!

Israel has fallen away from God here in the book of Isaiah.

"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are those who wait for Him." Isaiah 30:18

We are blessed if we wait for Him. God is also waiting for us so LET'S BLESS HIM!

One day Jesus told about a Prodigal Son.

A father had two boys. One of the boys wanted all of his inheritance now. The father gave it to him.

The son left home in his brand new car to live with his buddies in the city. They partied every day and night. They had the best alcohol, pot and girls money could buy.

When he ran out of money the friends and girls left him. He was in despair both physically and spiritually. He was empty, lonely, felt guilty and was afraid of the future.

He was too embarrassed to admit he made a big mistake.

After living in a pig pin for a time he realized no matter how bad it is at home it's better than living in a pig pin.

Every day his father would look for him hoping his son would return. He didn't care about all of the son's mistakes he just wanted him home. The father had such great faith and hope.

GREAT LEADERS SHOW COMPASSION!

The bible tells us, "it is God's goodness leads us to repentance."
Romans 2:4

Finally one day his father saw his boy coming from a distance. He cried out, "My boy, my boy has returned."

The father ran to meet his son and tackled him. The son was surprised.
He was expecting to be condemned for his behavior. It was just the opposite.

"I rise before dawn and cry out for help; I put my hope in Your word." - Psalm 119:147

Friends, God is longing for us to run home. He is waiting for us to bless us.

"He rises to show you compassion."

GREAT LEADERS CARE!

Team:

Have you ever heard someone talking and knew they were full of it?

Sometimes they are Politicians, Sales People, TV Preachers ect...

GREAT LEADERS CARE!

Today in Isaiah we see God talking with His Team about their communication with Him.

"These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men." Isaiah 29:13

In other words they were "Paying Lip Service"

Check out this definition of Lip Service.

"Lip service is a disingenuous or surface-level attempt to gain public favor by appearing to take a popular stance, yet making little effort to actually adopt or implement that position in private."

GREAT LEADERS CARE!

Friends, this is a great gut check for any Team. God is being real with His team and saying:

"It's half time. Let's get back in the game and play like we know how to play! Let's play with emotion!"

By giving God our Heart and not "paying lip service" we show Him we care. This is all God wants. He wants our Heart, Mind and Soul.

Just like God wants our Heart our Team also wants our Heart and to know we care.

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES

Team:

Have you ever had a Big Task to accomplish and ran out of Resources?

"The IMPOSSIBLE can always be broken down into POSSIBILITIES."
Author Unknown

Today in the One Year Playbook. Isaiah says to Focus on God and He will give us Peace.

"You will keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."
Isaiah 26: 3-4

"George Morrison said, "Peace is the possession of adequate Resources."

Did you know that God has an Incredible Resources we often forget about?

Jesus said He was not going to leave us without Resources or Help. He said He will give us the Greatest Resource in the Universe. What is this Resource?

THE HOLY SPIRIT

Jesus said,

"I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid." John 14:27

Peace is one of His Resources and is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES!

The Tree that Adam and Eve ate from gave the fruit of death both spiritually and physically.

The Tree we get to eat from now has Fruit that Brings True Life and Peace.

Through one tree in the Garden of Eden we got death, depression, anxiety, guilt and pain.

Jesus placed Himself in our place in another Garden, The Garden of Gethsemene.

On another tree Jesus took death, depression, anxiety, guilt and the pain of sin on His shoulders as he hung on a tree.

This Tree has the Greatest Fruit in the Universe. This Fruit gives us Power to overcome anything. This Fruit is from God The Holy Spirit.

Jesus had to Die and Rise from death for us to receive His gift. Jesus Rose from the grave in three days.

Now we can say, " I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me."
Phil 4:13

God wants us to use His Resources to be the Greatest Person God Created us to be! He wants give us a life of Peace.

The incredible thing about God's Resources is we can apply them to any area of our life: Family, School, Sports, Business ect...

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES!

When we use the Resources God gave us we get Peace that passes Human understanding. Other attributes of the Spirit are Joy, Gentleness, Kindness ect..

"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness," Gal 5:22

With the Holy Spirit we never run out of Resources.

JESUS GAVE US HIS TEAMATE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS FOR GOD.

Jeremiah 33:6 "'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security."

Today in the One Year Playbook we learn about Eliakim. Eliakim was a Great Leader and a Governor of King Hezekiah's Palace. He was an honorable man.

"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him..." ISAIAH 22:1-24:23

The name Eliakiam means, "whom God will raise up."

Eliakim was the son of Hilkiah. Remember Hilkiah was the Priest that found the Book of the Law when Josiah was King.

When Eliakim was a young boy they found the Playbook. He was probably King Josiah's best friend. It was a huge deal and all the people rejoiced. They realized this Playbook was the key to Success in life.

Eliakim had access to the Playbook because of his dad and took advantage of it. He read it every day and implemented it in his life.

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES!

This is what made Eliakim GREAT! He knew the Playbook. He didn't just read it he executed it. He took the Playbook and made it his life.

Back then there was only one Playbook and Eliakim was fortunate to have access to it. Today the Playbook is everywhere. We can access the Playbook from our Mobile Phone, I Pad ect...

What if we knew what the other team was going to do before they did it?

We could set up defenses and offenses to win every game. This is the Advantage God gives us when we use Resources like His Playbook.

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES!

By using Resources like the Playbook we can Win the Game of Life.

Who is God going to raise up in the next generation? Know the Playbook and it will be you.

Friends, all the Glory of our family rests on us. Let's be like Eliakim and use our Resources to Win the Game of Life so our offspring will also Win!

GREAT LEADERS USE THEIR RESOURCES!

Fw: GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see Barnabas Encouraging the people.

Barnabas is always looking for ways to lift people up and make them feel good. Barnabas made people believe they could accomplish anything with God.
GALATIANS 2:1-16

It would appear that some negative people were infiltrating the early church. These people were finding fault with everything.

How do we feel if someone always has a microscope on us? It's tough isn't it? It is hard to perform when this happens.

Paul knew this was going on. Paul also knew if he didn't get it fixed now they would lose. So Paul brought the Greatest Encourager in the land to lift these people back up and give them:

THE PEP TALK

Paul knew how important it was for people to be Encouraged. Paul knew this was a key to the Church's early Success.

The Answer: BARNABAS

"Barnabas was a highly respected Jewish Christian. According to Acts, his given name was Joseph, but the apostles gave him the nickname Barnabas ("Son of Encouragement") because of his gift of encouraging the early church (Acts 4:36)." www.biblegateway.com

Isn't that Awesome? They gave him a new name "Son of Encouragement."
Maybe his dad was known for his encouragement and he passed this great gift on to his son.

GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

Fathers! wouldn't it be great if we were known that same way in our home?

"Here comes dad. He's coming home to ENCOURAGE us."

How about the kids? The kids are coming home and ENCOURAGING their parents.

GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

Friends, this is how we are supposed to live. We are supposed to be ENCOURAGING and LIFTING each other up.

I wish I could tell you that I pass the test of ENCOURAGEMENT but I don't.

If we fall short in this area it's ok. God will make it up. The Word tells us that God is Strong when we don't measure up. "In my weakness God is Strong."

The most important thing to remember is to START NOW with ENCOURAGEMENT.

GREAT LEADERS ENCOURAGE!

"Every day and every way we will get a little better." Edison Charger Football

It is too important! The next Generation needs ENCOURAGEMENT!

We all have Barnabas in us ready to come out and Encourage people. When Barnabas appears in our houses nothing will stop us from reaching our Goals for God.

With a Barnabas Attitude and the Holy Spirit we will WIN!

The Holy Spirit will give us the Gift of Barnabas if we ask him.

This is the Greatest gift you can ask for because when we Encourage we Love.

Today in the One Year Bible we see the future. Isaiah is talking about the 144,000 being protected from Satan and the Antichrist.

They flee to the Rock City of Petra.

"Take counsel, execute judgment; make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day; hide the outcasts, do not betray him who escapes."

"Let My outcast dwell with you, O Moab; be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. For the extortioner is at an end, devastation ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land." Isaiah 16:3-4

This is so incredible that Isaiah talked about this 2800 years ago.

Jesus said, "I tell you this before it happens so when it does you will believe."

GREAT LEADERS KNOW WHERE TO FOCUS!

Team:

Where does sin come from? Where does temptation come from?

Have you ever wondered about the Devil and what happened many years ago? Have you ever wondered why there is evil and hate in the world?

GREAT LEADERS FOCUS ON GOD THEN OTHERS.

Here in Isaiah 14 we get some insight.
Here is what happened many years ago.

"How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star (Lucifer or Satan) son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

You said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain, I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'"
Isaiah 14:12-14

Notice how Satan kept saying, "I will" over and over.

Satan wants us to take our eyes off of God and focus on ourselves. Think about all the magazines out there. What do they focus on? They focus on self or the
"I will."

GREAT LEADERS FOCUS ON GOD THEN OTHERS.

Satan is a created angel. There are three angels named in the Bible that we know about: Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer.

Lucifer or Satan convinced one third of the angels to follow him and try to take over heaven.

The very instant this thought came into Satan's heart God took action and threw him and one third of the angels out of heaven.

Where did God send them? He sent them to earth. The first target was Adam and Eve. He tempted Eve with the same sin that got him thrown out of heaven. "You can be like God." He was also saying, "You can be as God ruling over your own planet if you take this drug."

Now many years later we are still affected by what happened a long time ago. Even in Gen 3:15 God provided a way out of this mess. He promises to send a Savior to take away all the sin Satan created.

The Savior is Jesus.

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." 1John 4:4

Let's focus on God, then Others. The Word says He will give us perfect peace when we fix our eyes on Him.

GREAT LEADERS FOCUS ON GOD THEN OTHERS.

GREAT LEADERS SEE THE BIG PICTURE!

Team:

Sometimes God cuts big things out of our life and replaces it with something that appears to be smaller. When this happens it is important to trust God and see the Big Picture.

Sometimes we have to take three steps forward and one step back.

GREAT LEADERS SEE THE BIG PICTURE!

In Isaiah 10:33-34 we learn God cuts down the tall trees. These tall trees provided shade from the scorching sun. These tall trees provided a cool peaceful place. These tall trees represent the things of the world we rely on for security, safety and peace in our lives.

Sometimes the world offers good things but when these things begin to own us we can forget about God.

God cut down the trees because He has something much Bigger and Better for us. God is concerned about our eternal security. The trees were only temporary.
"There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots." Isaiah 11:1

Sometimes God has to completely start over in our lives. Sometimes He has to get rid of the trees that are blocking our view of Him.

God had something much bigger for His people. Eph 3:20

GREAT LEADERS SEE THE BIG PICTURE

Jesus is the small root of Jesse. Jesus had humble small beginnings when Jesse's (David's) family was in dishonor; but in the end God's Kingdom will prevail over all the earth.

The bible tells us not to despise the days of small beginnings. Zech 4:10

These are times when we learn to Trust in God. God has a much bigger plan waiting for us in the near future.

Fw: GREAT LEADERS SAY 'SEND ME NOW!'

Team:

Today we see Isaiah jumping into the game. God was looking for someone to lead.

Have you ever been in a situation where the Coach, Boss, ect.. needs a couple of the players to step up and lead the Team.

GREAT LEADERS SAY, "SEND ME NOW!"

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
Isaiah 6:8

GREAT LEADERS SAY, "SEND ME NOW!"

God didn't beg Isaiah to step up. God gave Isaiah the Opportunity to step up.

WITH EVERY PROBLEM THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD.

Isaiah first saw the Lord and then realized he was a man of unclean lips.

God responded by cleaning up Isaiah's language.

This one thing was holding Isaiah back from going after his goals.

What one thing might be holding us back?

Friends, we all have things holding us back from saying, "Here I am send me."

Let's be like Isaiah and give it to God. The Word tells us in our weakness God is made Strong in Our Lives.

Fw: GREAT LEADERS GET BACK TO FUNDAMENTA

Team:

How do you keep the edge? How do you keep the passion to keep pursuing your dreams and goals?

Sometimes in a season we try, try and try to pull out a win but for whatever reason we keep coming up short. This can be frustrating and confusing.

Jesus said, "come to Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."

What was Jesus talking about? The Physical Game or the Mental Game? I think He was talking about the Mental Game. People were stressed with no hope and no future.

Jesus was saying, "come to me and I will help you get your head back in the game. I will help you get focused again. I will sharpen you up."

This is what Solomon had to say:

"If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success." Ecc 10:10

GREAT LEADERS GET BACK TO FUNDAMENTALS!

Check out what Lou Holtz says:

"If you are bored with life, if you don't have a burning desire to get up in the morning to do things, your problem is you do not have goals." --

Lou Holtz Former Coach Notre Dame

Have we run out of Goals? When practice becomes stagnant and boring it is time to come up with some New Goals to Challenge us. We can start with the Fundamentals of blocking and tackling. This is the heart of the team.

Maybe our family has lost its sharpness. Maybe its our business. Maybe its our relationship with God. It could be a number of things.

The Fundamentals of Blocking and Tackling are the same as Reading God's Word and Praying daily. Do we spend time on the important things?

Hudson Taylor says before we own a good skill we must repeat it 1000's of times.

"Practice makes Perfect."

The verse above does say that if the edge is dull we need to work a little harder and we will have success.

The Success comes from the hours of preparation and 1000's of repetitions.

So How do we get sharp? How do we keep the edge? How do you keep the passion to keep pursuing your dreams and goals?

By going back to the fundamentals like:
Praying, Reading and Fellowship.

Jesus said earlier to get our head in the game we need to come to Him.

The Mental Rest is knowing God is in Control and now we can Perform.

GREAT LEADERS STAY FOCUSED!

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see great wisdom by Solomon about not listening to negative criticism.

Have you ever worried about what people think of you? Have you ever got ticked off because someone said something bad about you? Has anyone ever blamed you for something you didn't do?

Solomon has some great advise here:

"Do not take heart everything people say" Ecc 7:21

GREAT LEADERS STAY FOCUSED!

So many times we shut down our Dreams and Goals before we ever get started. We beat ourselves and listen to that negative recorder in our mind over and over.

Why do we do this?

The enemy uses people and situations to irritate and slander us. Then he whispers in our ear fearful thoughts about what people think of us. Then we own it and keep replaying it over and over in our mind.

This can freeze us up and cause us to meander through life aimlessly with no Purpose and No Plan. Eph 2:1-3

We get angry, resentful, bitter ect...

PRESS THE STOP BUTTON NOW!!!

The Word tells us Perfect Love drives out all fear. 1 John 4:18

"You cannot stop people's tongues, and therefore the best thing to do is to stop your own ears and never mind what is spoken." Charles Spurgeon

GREAT LEADERS STAY FOCUSED!

In Eph 2:1-3 Paul uses the words, "were and formerly" as it explains our past life. Now we have a New Life in Christ.

Friends, When we receive Christ as the Ruler and Savior of our lives He gives us Purpose and Meaning for our Life. He gives us New Goals and Dreams. He gives us a New Beginning filled with a Great Future and Hope.

The enemy knows if he whispers negative thoughts in our ears and minds he can frustrate us and take us out of the game. As I said sometimes he uses people as his puppets to bring us down and take us out of the game.

Remember, negative people full of criticism and slander are the ones that have the problems. Most of the time these people are miserable and really insecure deep down inside.

Jesus said to Pray for our enemies.

God allows this so we will rely on Him and not ourselves. The Word tells us when we resist the enemy he will flee from us.

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
James 4:7

In football we put on the helmet to protect our brain from head injury. In Ephesians 6 Coach Paul says to put on the Helmet of Salvation to Protect our mind from the enemy's attacks.

NOW TURN THIS NEW RECORDER ON!

"not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you. Not one of them has failed."
Joshua 23:14

Jesus promised to give us The Helper. The Helper is His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives Peace, Confidence, Strength, Wisdom, Love ect.. Love Conquers All.
John 15:26

God gives Promises and He Delivers.

Don't listen to negative criticism. Think good thoughts full of Hope. Phil 4:6-7

Jesus said, "All Authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on Earth."

God has never failed us. He has Great Plans for us. Let's Attack our Goals and Dreams and when we accomplish great things for God we will give Him all the Glory.

Fw: GREAT LEADERS BEGIN WITH CONTENTMENT

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see Solomon realizing that riches and great fame and fortune never satisfy. Solomon could not be content because he was basing his success on others around him.
"Everyone's toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied" Ecc 6:7

GREAT LEADERS BEGIN WITH CONTENTMENT!

BEING CONTENT IS WHERE WE START NOT WHERE WE END!

Being content is tricky. It is important to be thankful and satisfied for what we have.

Sometimes we measure success by what others have. If my friends have the big house and cool car I want that and more.

God wants us to be happy with what we have been given by Him but He also wants us to strive for more and get better each and every day.

We need to base our goals on what God wants for us not on what others have. Solomon wanted to have more than everyone. When he did it was empty.

"But godliness with contentment is great gain." 1 Timothy 6:6

Alexander the Great died at the young age of 32 because he had nothing else to conquer. If he had Godly contentment his accomplishments would have been the beginning not the end.

Being content is a MINDSET to help us begin with a FRESH new POSITIVE outlook on Life.

GREAT LEADERS BEGIN WITH CONTENTMENT!

BEING CONTENT IS WHERE WE START NOT WHERE WE END!

Check out what Paul say's:

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."
Philippians 4:11

Paul was saying he is content where he is so he doesn't get bitter and angry and walk around with a chip on his shoulder. Paul in his own mind was saying:

"OK, it's cool I'm in this rat infested jail. I'm content with that. Now what's my next move going to be for God?"

GREAT LEADERS BEGIN WITH CONTENTMENT!

BEING CONTENT IS WHERE WE START NOT WHERE WE END!

Jesus rebuked the guy that said, "I've stored up enough grain for retirement now I'm going to cruise for the rest of my life."

Being content is a MINDSET to help us begin with a FRESH new POSITIVE outlook on Life.

Paul went on to say, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Phil 4:13

God wants us to have goals and achieve our goals. Our motivation is to Glorify God.

"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:14

"Life was meant to be lived. Curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life." Eleanor Roosevelt

GREAT LEADERS REALIZE GOD MATTERS

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see a person who had everything that the world could offer. He had Wisdom and Wealth beyond anything you could ever imagine.

" Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind."
Ecc 1:16

GREAT LEADERS REALIZE GOD MATTERS

Job experienced what it was like to lose everything and he remained faithful to the end.

In the end God rewarded him with 140 yrs., doubled his wealth and had children to the fourth generation.

On the other hand Solomon acquired everything and was unfaithful. Solomon realized it was all vanity and empty.

Solomon became a bitter cynical person and hated life.

Isn't it interesting how Job got stripped of everything and ended up having a fulfilled joyful life in the end. Solomon had everything but was miserable and bitter in the end.

GREAT LEADERS REALIZE GOD MATTERS

Friends, a life without God becomes cynical and useless. Next time you go to Las Vegas look at all the retired people with nothing to do but play slots. They have their retirement but their life is so empty and lonely. They just keep putting coins in the slot machine and pushing the button. Even if they win it isn't good enough.

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see Job being rewarded for his faithfulness.
When the storm hits our house will the foundation hold?

GREAT LEADERS ARE FAITHFUL

The turning point for Job was when he finally got his day in court. God asked job many questions Job couldn't answer.

When Job realized the wisdom and power God had he was humbled. The vastness and the greatness of God overwhelmed Job.

"After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before." Job 42:10

Notice how God responded to Job's prayer. He gave Job twice as much. God is so good. When we go through tough times he will always give us an opportunity to rebound and start over.

Job prayed for his friends. Job could have been unforgiving and bitter but he wasn't. What an incredible person of Character and Integrity.

Job went through many trials and tribulations. He went through the fire and survived. Everything and everyone was against Job.

GREAT LEADERS ARE FAITHFUL

"Though He slay me yet will I trust Him"
Job 13:15

Job's faithfulness was unconditional.
Job didn't seek happiness he sought holiness.

The storm goes against the house to get the foundation. What is our foundation?

Job's foundation stood because Job was faithful to the end. Job Finished Strong!
