GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY

Have you ever wanted something so bad that all you did was think about it over and over?

Maybe it was a car or a ski boat?

After a while the newness wore off. The car wasn't as great as you thought. The ski boat keeps breaking down.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

"How the gold has lost its luster, the fine gold become dull! The sacred gems are scattered at the head of every street." Lamentations 4:1

Sometimes our relationship with God can lose that excitement of when we first found God. After a while complacency sets in and we take God for granted.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

When this happens we are very vulnerable. Complacency is a tough opponent.

So how do we defeat complacency? We keep reading the word every morning and allow God to keep working in our lives.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

Another thing we can do to keep the excitement going and not get complacent is to mentor new believers.

Take someone under your wing and help them accomplish their goals in the Lord.

A lot of times we think God is out to get us after we sin. We think that God is a fault finder.

God is not a Fault Finder. God Loves to Forgive when we ask.

Jon Courson say's, "God doesn't say Aha! I'm going to expose that sin and embarrass you. That is not the nature of the Father. No it is sin itself that will come to fruition."

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

"Every time I sin, that sin will sooner or later track me down, find me out, and humiliate me. But it's not God doing this. Rather, it's the work of the Enemy to not only seduce us into sin, but to expose and humiliate us through it."

God loves us and wants the best for us. When we allow the Enemy to Condemn us we are falling into his trap. First he causes us to do the sin then he beats us up after we have done it. Then we are trapped in a sticky web with no escape.

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

Here is a great verse to think about the next time we think God is condemning us.

"Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22

Our own sin will find us out and the enemy will try to destroy us. When we call on God He will Find us, Rescue us and have Compassion on us if we humble ourselves and ask Him to do so.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

However if we ignore the Lord, sin will destroy us. Now is that God's fault? We shouldn't blame it on God. It is the sin that found us out.

The Good News is the Lord is trying to Rescue us from ourselves.

God's Grace is "Getting something we don't deserve.". Jesus will forgive us and give us a New Beginning If we turn 180 degrees and follow Him.

Jesus said that He came to seek and save those that are lost. When we are found out by our sin and trapped by the Enemy He will seek us, find us and save us if we are willing to let Him save us.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Have you ever been bumbed out because of some mistakes you have made?

All of us have regretted decisions we have made.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Today in the One Year Playbook we learn what happens when we continue to Ignore God.

"How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave." Lamentations 1:1

"Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The LORD has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe." Lamentations 1:5

This is referring to Judah and how the Nation once ruled the world. Now they are enslaved again like they were in Egypt many years ago.

This can also apply to the USA.

Most importantly it applies to us as individuals. God did an Incredible Work in our lives and we were at the top of the world. We were praising God every moment of the day.

When we received Christ we were Freed from the slavery and the bondage of sin. We were free of bitterness and regret. We stopped second guessing ourselves because we knew were in God's Will. We lived a Life of Confidence because our Confidence was in the Lord.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Just like Israel and Judah we gradually stopped seeking God and were not Ready for His Word to be performed in our lives.

As a result we have become enslaved to addictions, emotions, depression, self doubt ect... and have passed it on to the Next Generation.

Now we are depressed and feel like we have no hope.

So what do we doer?

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

- Humble
- Pray
- Seek God's Face
- Turn 180 degrees

Yes, we can come back and Win! When we Win on God's terms we will build a deep foundation for current and future generations.

Friends, we need to be Ready when God is Ready to Perform His Word in our lives.

Is our Friends Ready?

Is our Family Ready?

Are the children Ready?

Am I Ready?

Try a Fire Drill at home and see who is ready. Then compare the Fire Drill to always being Ready.

The Word tells us to be ready in season and out of season... 2 Timothy 4:2

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Do you ever feel sluggish? Sometimes when the weekend gets here we hit a wall and crash.

Why do we get sluggish? After a football game we are physically exhausted. After a work/school week we are mentally exhausted.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Sometimes a disappointment will make us sluggish. Sometimes it is a relationship in turmoil.

The wheels in our head start spinning out of control. We stay in bed and don't want to get up because we fear the unknown.

Here Solomon recognizes the excuses people make for not pushing ahead to accomplish their goals.

"A sluggard says, "There's a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!" As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed."
Proverbs 26:13-14

GREAT LEADERS FIND AWAY!

It looks like Solomon is putting down the sluggard and wants us to be aware of becoming complacent and lazy.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

However maybe the cause associated with some "sluggards" is depression.

When we hurt we become depressed. When we become depressed we don't want to go outside and face the world. It is easier to just roll over.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

So how do we get out of depression and get back in the game?

One way is to donate our time to serving others. Another way is to get busy. Have a goal and a purpose. Jer 29:11

John said, "He must increase and I must decrease."

"Enoch walked with God and Enoch was not for God raptured him."

Enoch realized he was not and put the Lord first in his life. God took him right where he was.

Here is what Jesus and Isaiah had to say:

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,Because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

"The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still"(Exodus 14:14, NIV)

Mentally be Still and let God work out the details. Our job is to show up for work and do our best then commit the rest.

GREAT LEADERS SACRIFICE!

Do you ever have a hard time praying and singing to the Lord? Do you have a hard time taking 10 minutes in the morning to read the Word? What about putting on that smile when we don't want to?

Let's face it sometimes we just don't feel like it and are not into it.

So what do we do? Do we take the easy way out and say, "Oh I will just watch the pastor on TV."

GREAT LEADERS SACRIFICE!

Did you know that when we Praise God when we don't feel like it God is Honored?
"Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song." Psalm 95

Paul said, "the Spirit is willing but my flesh is week."

"When we Give God our Best when we are at our Worst God is Honored.

What is a Sacrifice? It is giving our most important possession to God.

What is our most important Possession?

The Time we take to Praise God is our most important possession.

We all serve something. Do we Praise the Creator or His Creation?

The Bible calls it a Sacrifice of Praise to God.

 "By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name" (Hebrews 13:15).

When we Sacrifice our most Important Possession to God He will give back 100 times.

God will pour Joy and Peace on our life like we can't believe. God will pour Confidence and Assurance on us. We will enter every situation Knowing and Expecting God to do Great things.

The bible says "let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalms 150:6)

Let's give God our most Important Possession: Time and Praise to Him

How many times has God been there for you when you were down and out? How many times has God provided someone to come along and help you at just the right time when you were slipping?

How many times have you been so depressed you couldn't get out of bed?

Maybe this isn't you but I bet you know someone who is who is slipping. I bet you know someone who is depressed and anxious.

Check out what David says in this Psalm:

"Unless the LORD had given me help,

Friends, God will give you help when you ask. If you have a friend in this situation God wants to use you to deliver the message of Hope.

There are habits in our life that we need to get rid of. They are habits that not only hurt ourselves but those we love.

So how do we break these habits?

We change our focus. We focus on the Lord. We get help. We surround ourselves with winners.

What is true commitment? We hear of it often but do we really know what True Commitment is?

For 40 years Jeremiah has been made fun of, beaten up, put in prison ect.. Why? Because he stood up for what he believed in. His reward was not to be popular with the people. His reward was to do whatever it took to help God.

Jeremiah was DETERMINED to proclaim God's message to Judah no matter what happened.

The Lord gave Judah every opportunity to turn from their rebellion and follow Him. They did not. Jeremiah is the messenger. Jeremiah didn't sign up for this Job he was appointed by God to be the messenger.

Have you ever been a messenger of news? When it is good news it is great but bad news is tough.

REAL LEADERS ARE COMMITTED TO THE TEAM!

"When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, "The LORD your God decreed this disaster for this place. 3 And now the LORD has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because your people sinned against the LORD and did not obey him. 4 But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don't come. Jer 40:2-4a

REAL LEADERS ARE COMMITTED TO THE TEAM!

Jeremiah was Determined to Finish Strong! No matter how the people treated him in the past it was irrelevant. Jeremiah was here to Win.

Jeremiah could have said, "later, nice knowing ya" and took off but he was committed to the people of Judah.

Friends, how about us? Are we that committed to our family, job, team ect..?

Have you ever been accused of something you didn't do?

Have you ever been overlooked?

Maybe the coach put another player in to take your spot.

What do you do when this happens?

GREAT LEADERS FORGIVE!

18 Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, "What crime have I committed against you or your attendants or this people, that you have put me in prison? 19 Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, 'The king of Babylon will not attack you or this land'? 20 But now, my lord the king, please listen. Let me bring my petition before you: Do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, or I will die there." Jer 37:18

Jeremiah realized he was being treated unfairly.

GREAT LEADERS FORGIVE!

Did Jeremiah just sit back or did he stick up for himself?

He stuck up for himself.

When we are treated unfairly or accused of something we didn't do it is tempting to get mad and frustrated and stop progressing toward our goal.

If we forgive and move on we take control over the situation we keep moving toward our goal.

GREAT LEADERS FORGIVE!

When Jesus was hanging on the cross for our sins He said, " "Father forgive them."

The number one thing we can do when we are accused is forgive.

GREAT LEADERS FORGIVE!

Forgive and move forward. Don't let situations control you. You control your own destiny. You make your own future.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

What is Commitment? What does it mean to be totally devoted?

In Today's One Year Playbook we see the Rekabite or Rechabite family sticking with a commitment that was made a few generations earlier by Rekab the Grandfather.

The founder of the Rechabite family had assisted Jehu in removing Baal worship from the land (2 Kings 10:15-17) so they had a Godly heritage. When the Babylonian army moved in, the Rechabites had to abandon their nomadic way of life and enter Jerusalem for safety.
They abandoned their tents but not their standards. Wiersby

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

The Rekabites

 1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD during the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: 2 "Go to the Rekabite family and invite them to come to one of the side rooms of the house of the LORD and give them wine to drink."

Why would God do this? Why would He want to have these people drink in the "side" room of the house of the Lord?

This was a test to show how committed the Rekabites were and how uncommitted God's own people were.

Earlier (2 Kings 10:15-17) the Rekabites helped Jehu cleanse the Temple of Baal worship. At that time Rekab encouraged his kids not to drink wine.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

Now 50 years later we see that the grandchildren of Rekab were still committed to their vow.

Even though it was a "side" room where no one could see them they said, "No!"

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

God used this test to show His own people that the Rekabites kept their commitments but His own did not.

When we keep our commitment to live for God the commitment will be passed on to many generations after us. In fact God promised the Rekabites that someone in their family will always serve God.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

In 1948 The Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Guess who had them? The descendants of the Rekabites.

The founding of the Dead Sea Scrolls proved the King James Bible was translated correctly from Hebrew to English. This was a huge discovery.

It was only possible because one man made a commitment to help Jehu (2 Kings 10:15-17) and encourage his family to live a life fully devoted to the Lord.

GREAT LEADERS ARE COMMITTED!

Our commitments today will trickle down for many generations. Our commitments have a huge impact whether we realize it or not.

Let's decide today to be committed to Praying, Reading and Encouraging every day.

Another law is Sowing and Reaping. This is a Spiritual law as well as a Physical law. If you plant a peach tree you won't get a pear. We rely on these laws when farmers and agriculture experts forecast the future. This affects supply and demand as well as future prices.

If the Sowing and Reaping law were removed from the universe would be a disaster.

The days are coming," declares the LORD,
   
"when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah."

Also, Paul wants us to know that Jesus is our bridge to God. With one hand Jesus grabbed the Father and with the other hand He grabbed us.

GREAT LEADERS GIVE HOPE!

Team:

Do you ever feel like an outcast or an exile? Do you ever feel you don't belong? Do you ever feel that God has forgot about you?

The people in Jeremiah 29 were feeling this way. They were hoping for any good news. They are witnessing their future going down the tubes.

Sometimes when things are going south and hope is lost we want to believe anything that is going to make us feel better.

The false prophets of their day are no different then they are right now. The enemy will try to deceive us to believe a lie to get us off track. This is called a, "false sense of hope."

"They offer superficial treatments for my people's mortal wound. They give assurances of peace when there is no peace." Jeremiah 6:14

Luckily Jeremiah was faithful and committed to the Lord. He spoke the truth even if his life was on the line.

GREAT LEADERS ARE HONEST!

In Jeremiah 29:20-23 Jeremiah sends a letter of encouragement to the exiles Nebuchadnezzar carried off to Babylon.

The Lord was saying, "Its not going to be easy but I will be with you all the way. I have a plan for you."

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11

GREAT LEADERS GIVE HOPE!

When we are feeling left out and like an outcast beware of the temptation to believe a lie.

The exiles that were taken to Babylon were like highschool students going hundreds of miles away to college. Sometimes when we are in an unfamiliar environment we feel all alone. We feel insecure. It is very tempting to fall for the first group that makes us feel at home.

It is so important to be well read in the Word and to find good friends to link up with to keep strong in the Lord.

GREAT LEADERS GIVE HOPE!

When we are feeling like their is no hope God will provide encouragement when we seek Him with all our heart.

"He measures the universe with the Span of His hand." Isaiah 40:12

The Universe is 14 billion light years.

How Big is God?

God is big enough to measure the universe with his hand yet small enough to be in your heart.

The answer to this question will give you the incredible Power to be Sold Out!

GREAT LEADERS ARE SOLD OUT!

Here we see that Jeremiah is Sold Out for the Lord.

Jeremiah Threatened with Death:

 12 Then Jeremiah said to all the officials and all the people: "The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and this city all the things you have heard.

13 Now reform your ways and your actions and obey the LORD your God. Then the LORD will relent and not bring the disaster he has pronounced against you.

14 As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.
15 Be assured, however, that if you put me to death, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves and on this city and on those who live in it, for in truth the LORD has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing."

Jeremiah knew his purpose. Jeremiah was sold out and willing to give his life for his cause.

Friends, when we are sold out for our purpose in life nothing can stop us.

You might say, "what is my purpose?"

God created us first and foremost to be a great player on His Team. God has a role for us to play in Life.

When we are committed to His Team First everything else in life will fall into place.

God will reveal your position on the Team as we are Sold Out for the Team.

Some football players are recruited as defensive backs but they end up playing wide receiver. This happens after the coach sees our commitment day after day.

GREAT LEADERS ARE SOLD OUT!

Clay Matthews 2010 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was a Walk On at USC. The coaches saw his drive and passion for the team and he finally got his shot.

When he got in his first game he was prepared and ready.

"Proper Planning Predicts Powerful Performance."

GREAT LEADERS ARE SOLD OUT!

When you are Sold Out to God First with the attitude of Jeremiah nothing can stop you from achieving your purpose.

Braveheart's William Wallace was Sold Out for his country. At the end while he was dying for his cause he said, "Freedom!"

When you are Sold Out each and every day you can't be stopped.

What will you die for? What will you live for?

Paul said, "for me to live is Christ and to die is gain."

How do you stop someone like that? You can't.

Both Paul and Jeremiah are saying, "it doesn't matter I'm Sold Out and I'm going to do what God wants me to do no matter what. If I get beat up, picked on, made fun or die it doesn't matter because no matter what I will be with the Lord on earth or in Heaven."

When you do what is right you can't be Stopped!

Sometimes we feel that we can hide from God? Sometimes we sneak around thinking that God won't see what we do in Secret.

GREAT LEADERS DON'T HIDE!

This is what was happening in Judah. The Leaders thought they could get away with their sin. They had a compromise and a justification for everything.

Even though God specifically says, "Thou shalt worship the Lord your God and Him only," they snuck around and worshiped Baal and Molech in "Secret Places."

GREAT LEADERS DON'T HIDE!

"Am I only a God nearby," declares the LORD, "and not a God far away? Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?" declares the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth?" Declares the LORD.
Jer 23:23-24

The Lord is saying I am everywhere. I'm omnipresent. You can't hide from me. I see what you are doing.

GREAT LEADERS DON'T HIDE!

How does it feel when we sneak around? We are always worrying about being caught. We are always paranoid.

God has a better way. God doesn't want us living a life of worry and anxiety. God doesn't want us looking over our shoulder hoping we don't get caught.

When we are fully open with God He gives us strength. In Genesis Adam was hiding. God knew where Adam was but He asked him anyway: "Adam where are you?"

God loves us so much. When we sneak off to another place He will track us down and say, "where are you?"

God could lecture us but He won't. The Lord wants us to be with Him in the process. In other words He wants to work with us and through us.

The Bible says our eyes are the window of our life. What we look at is very important. If we are always looking at life with opportunity and hope we will be very happy.

On the other hand if we see life in a negative way we will be bitter and uptight all the time.

Joshua said to choose life. Choose to be positive. Choose to see opportunity.

Here in this verse Jesus helps these people see. Their physical eyes were healed as well as their Spiritual eyes.

"Then he touched their eyes and said, 'According to your faith will it be done to you' "(Matthew 9:29, NIV)

if you are having a tough time seeing hope and opportunity ask Jesus to touch your eyes.

In today's One Year Playbook Solomon gives some good advice. He tells us too keep things to ourselves.

"Debate your case with your neighbor, and do not disclose the secret to another; Lest he who hears it expose your shame and your reputation be ruined."
Prov 25: 9-10

GREAT LEADERS KEEP SECRETS!

Sometimes we open up too much with people. There are personal things and family matters that are not to be discussed outside the family.

Hezekiah opened up the Secret Treasure in Jerusalem to some visitors from Babylon. A few years later the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem to get the Secret Treasure.

God has given us many Secret Treasures. Some Secret Treasures are our Purity, Integrity, Character, ect..

These Gifts are Secret Treasures From God. Between You and God.

GREAT LEADERS KEEP SECRETS!

God is our Fortress. He is the one we go to. He always has our best interest in mind.

Before talking to anyone about anything personal or anything irritating us we need to go to the Lord. Then we need to Wait! Remember when we Wait we get Strength.

The Word says it is the Glory of God to hide a matter or keep it a secret.
Proverbs 25:2

If someone does something against us it is God's Glory to let it go. Give it to God.

"When a secret is revealed, it is the fault of the man who confided it"

GREAT LEADERS RELY ON GOD

Have you ever thought you didn't have enough for a certain task? Do you ever feel that you don't measure up?

How does that make you feel?

GREAT LEADERS RELY ON GOD

There is a gap between where we are and where we need to be. This gap causes us to be insecure.

When we are insecure we doubt ourselves and we become stiff and frozen.

"Therefore I will teach them—
   this time I will teach them
   my power and might.
Then they will know
   that my name is the LORD." Jer 16:21

The Lord wants to bridge the gap between where we are and where need to be.

So the next time you are in a situation where you feel inadequate or insecure remember the Lord will give you confidence to overcome where you are and where you need to be.

The Good News is God will always give us a second chance no matter how wrong the decision is.

What is worse the outcome of our poor decision or the guilt and shame of how much pain it causes everyone we love?

"Restore us, LORD God Almighty;
make your face shine on us, that we may be saved." Psalm 80:3

Unfortunately we still have to live with the fall out for the decisions we make.

So God Forgives and Restores us but we still have to pay the price for our decisions.

God will at times do miracles to stop the process of our poor decisions however there will still be a price to be paid.

"The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus."
Rom 6:33

It is called "Sowing and Reaping." What ever we plant in the ground (corn, peas, ect.) will come out. The same is true with our actions.

"Sow a thought... reap an act; Sow an act...reap a habit; Sow a habit...reap a character; Sow a character...reap a destiny."

GREAT LEADERS WAIT ON THE LORD

Team:

Sometimes it's hard to understand why some people prosper more than others. Here Jeremiah is asking God why He is blessing people that don't even believe in Him.

Jeremiah's Complaint

 1 You are always righteous, LORD,
   when I bring a case before you.
Yet I would speak with you about your justice:
   Why does the way of the wicked prosper?
   Why do all the faithless live at ease?

Jeremiah was acknowledging God's righteousness but was questioning God's Justice. It would seem that Jeremiah doesn't agree with God's decisions.

Friends, sometimes we don't understand why things happen the way they do. The Lord has reasons for everything.

Isaiah 40:13 "Who has understood the mind of the LORD, or instructed him as his counselor?"

We don't know all the answers but we do know that God has a great plan for us. Our Job is to share this Great News with others.

GREAT LEADERS WAIT ON THE LORD

The Bible tells us that God is not willing to have anyone perish but that all would come to the saving Grace of Christ Jesus.

We just don't know all the information. The important thing we need to do is take care of our own relationship with God.

GREAT LEADERS WAIT ON THE LORD

God made us the way we are for His purpose. He is the Potter and we are the Clay. He molds us and makes us to give each of us something unique and special.
Joseph was sold into slavery. He was falsely accused of trying to seduce Potiphar's wife. Then he was thrown in jail.

For many years it seemed like everything was going wrong for Joseph.

GREAT LEADERS WAIT ON THE LORD

Then Joseph's moment came. He was asked by the king to interpret a dream.

The answer was so incredible the king made Joseph second in hierarchy to the king.

Joseph went from a slave and an inmate to the second most powerful person in the world.

"Joseph woke up one morning in Prison and that night went to bed in a Palace."

God has everything lined up for us. God is already way ahead of us preparing the way and changing circumstances on our behalf.

When we are struggling with the WHY QUESTIONS we need to wait on the Lord.

When we wait on the Lord we get Strength and we fly like we were on wings of eagles.

GREAT LEADERS PREPARE FOR THE STORM

Team:

Have you ever been in a situation when you knew a storm was coming?

It might be a literal storm like a hurricane. It could be related to a job, a financial situation or any number of things.

Whatever it is the time has finally come for the storm to hit.

This is not a good feeling is it?

GREAT LEADERS PREPARE FOR THE STORM

This is what was happening in Judah.

The Leaders of the Judah have turned their back on God.

"Listen! The report is coming—
a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals."

Jeremiah's Prayer

"LORD, I know that people's lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Discipline me, LORD, but only in due measure— not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing."
JEREMIAH 10:1-11:23

Notice Jeremiah isn't asking God to just sweep it under the carpet. Jeremiah is Standing in the Gap acknowledging the sin and saying, "yes we need discipline so it doesn't happen again."

Also, Jeremiah doesn't offer any excuses.
He says, "discipline me! I'm the Leader. I'm Responsible for the situation we are in. Please step in and help us so we can get back in the game."

Just like Jeremiah we should also stand in the Gap for our Team.

No matter where we are in our circle of Influence all of us are Leaders. It doesn't matter if we are the oldest in the family or the youngest all of us have Influence. The same holds true for your peer groups at school, on the Job, on the team ect...

Friends, the key to Jeremiah's Leadership was his prayer life. Jeremiah walked and talked with God each and everyday on behalf of the nation.

Paul says Christ is our life.

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

Do we ever had a hard time admitting
to God that we made a mistake?

It is hard to look in the mirror and say, "I blew it Lord."

We have excuses of why we made mistakes. We blame others for our mistakes.

When this happens life becomes a big excuse for failure.

"Failure is not an Option!"

We have too much to live for. We have too many people relying on us to leave the game of life.

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

So how do we stop the domino effect and fall out of sin?

"'Return, faithless Israel,' declares the LORD, 'I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,' declares the LORD,
'I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt— you have rebelled against the LORD your God,
you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree,
and have not obeyed me,'" declares the LORD. Jer 3:11-13

The Lord is telling us to Return, Acknowledge our Guilt and Rebellion, and Obey.

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

This is so important if we want to move on and succeed in life. The reason God wants us to Acknowledge our Guilt and Rebellion is so we can let it go.

When Adam was in the Garden God asked him what he was doing. He said, "Where are you?" God knew where Adam was. The Lord didn't want to lecture Adam. The Lord wanted Adam to Return to Him to Acknowledge the Guilt and Rebellion so he could get rid of it and move on.

So many times we get stuck in our guilt and rebellion only to become hard, bitter and angry.

On the surface we are fine. Everyone sees a fake person acting "cool." Underneath all that is a hurting depressed person who just needs a way out of Guilt, Rebellion and Shame.

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

The same enemy that was in the Garden with Adam and Eve is still trying to pull us down by making excuses and blaming everyone but ourselves.

"If you blame others for something that happens in your life, then you must wait until they change in order to get better." WT

Friends, we don't have time to wait for someone else to change. God says I must and change. If we wait for the person we blame to change they are in control of our emotions which impacts everything we do.

God has all the answers if we Trust Him. Yes it is tough to change but God will give us the Power through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to change if we let him.

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

7000 years ago Adam tried to cover up his "nakedness" with a leaf. 7000 years later we try to do the same thing don't we?

Here is the Great News. God knew the leaf wouldn't last because it was only a temporary fix. So God gave Adam and Eve the skin of an animal.

That's right God had to shed the blood of an innocent animal to get the proper covering for Adam and Eve. A covering that with withstand all the weather conditions and storms of life.

Jesus became our permanent covering over our nakedness when He shed His blood for us. God had to use the life of an innocent person to cover our nakedness. A covering that with withstand all the weather conditions and storms of life.

So the answer is Jesus. Jesus said has a great plan for us and wants us to succeed in life.

Obey

GREAT LEADERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACTS!

When we apply these Principles in our lives we will Win. When we Win we Lead others to Winning also.

As a result guilt and bitterness go away and we live a life full of Joy.

GREAT LEADERS WANT GOD'S FAVOR!

Team:

Do you want to have Favor with God? What is Favor?

Favor is an act of Good Will by someone to another without any strings attached. It is an act of kindness. It is Gracious. It is getting something I did not earn.

God wants to pour His favor on us but we have to ready to receive His Favor.

GREAT LEADERS WANT GOD'S FAVOR!

Here are three things that make us available to receive God's Favor.

"Has not my hand made all these things,
and so they came into being?"
declares the LORD. "These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word."
Isaiah 66:2

Just like a football receiver needs to prepare himself to receive a pass from the quarterback we need to prepare ourselves to receive God's Favor.

This is the foundation for receiving God's Favor:

Humble

"is the quality of being modest, and respectful."

Contrite in Spirit

Contrite heart means "to be completely penitent, feeling remorse and affected by guilt, deeply regretful and wishing to atone for sin."

Tremble at God's Word

"To be terrified to do the right thing; to do what God's Word says."

When we have these three attributes we are ready to Receive God's Favor.

GREAT LEADERS WANT GOD'S FAVOR!

The Bible says if we Humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord He will lift us up.

After we are Humble we realize we need to be fixed which leads to a Contrite Heart full of remorse because of my sin.

Finally, to Tremble and Fear when hearing His words is an act of Honor and Respect to the King knowing if I carry out His commands I will get Wisdom.

God's Favor was poured on Solomon as he received the greatest Favor one could ask for. Solomon received Wisdom.

How would it feel if we always made the Right Choices? Would we be Successful in Life?

GREAT LEADERS WANT GOD'S FAVOR!

David made some big mistakes in his life but he always Repented and came back using these three Attributes: Humble, Contrite in Spirit and Tremble at His Word.

David said, "I was Glad when they said let us go to the House of the Lord."

Why was David Glad? Because he was in a position to receive God's Favor. Now instead of Trembling he has Confidence knowing God is for him and wants the best for his life.

When we get God's Favor we get something we don't deserve. We can't earn His Favor He just gives it.

Friend, God loves you so much He went great lengths to reach out to you. He knew it would be impossible for us to do the three steps of Favor alone.

So God sent His Son Jesus to do it for us. Now we are in a position to receive God's Favor.

"Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins."
Rom 3:24

GREAT LEADERS REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES!

Have you ever been in a tough situation and thought, "where is God when I need Him?"

In the following the people are remembering the times when God came in and rescued Israel.

GREAT LEADERS REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES TO GET THROUGH TOUGH TIMES!

"Then his people recalled the days of old, the days of Moses and his people—
where is he who brought them through the sea, with the shepherd of his flock?
Where is he who set His Holy Spirit among them." Isaiah 63:11

When we are in distress it is good to remember all the Great Times we had with God.

Sometimes tragic things do happen to us. Does that mean God isn't there for us? No Way! The Lord never promised life would be a breeze but He did promise He would give us Peace to Endure through the tough times. Phil 4:6-7

GREAT LEADERS REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES TO GET THROUGH TOUGH TIMES!

"For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you."
Isaiah 64:3

Friends, God is there for us and He will do AWESOME things we don't EXPECT.

The Bible promises, "when wait on the Lord we will get Strength."

While we are Waiting on the Lord let's Remember all the Great things God has already done for us. This will give us Strength and Courage to Endure through our pain and Conquer the next Challenge.
