Fw: Leading and Rebuilding

Team:

Today's Coach is Jere Johnson from FCA Chicago. (His message follows this one)

Today's Offensive Coordinator is Nehemiah. Nehemiah 1

Sometimes in the Seasons of Life it is time to Rebuild. It is time to Re-establish our Goals and Purpose for our Team.

At this time Team Israel was devastated. Many people were starving and homeless with no future and no hope.

Nehemiah was a Great Leader but wasn't in the Position to Lead until now. He was the Cup Bearer.

He was a Servant. He tasted the Kings Cup first before the King drank it to make sure the drink wasn't Poisoned.

How would you like to have this Job?

Nobody wanted this job except Nehemiah. He took the job as an opportunity to be in front of the King.

If he is in front of the King he could influence the King to Help his Team Win.

That's what Leaders do. They Take Responsibility for the Team.

Being a Cup Bearer means taking Responsibility for the Team.

When I played Running Back my first job on passing downs was to protect the Quarterback from the Blitzing Linebacker.
In another words I was the Cup Bearer and taking Responsibility for the QB. I had to be willing to step in and Block the Linebacker Blitzing at 100mph.

The point is someone has to be willing to Drink the Cup, check for Poison and Take Responsibility for the Team.

Nehemiah stepped up and was the Cup Bearer to protect the King and now is going to Lead the Rebuilding of a Nation.

Jesus Also became our Cup Bearer and took Responsibility to Lead us in Rebuilding our Lives.

Jesus said, "Please take this Cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Mark 14:36

"Is there is any other way man can get to Heaven besides me Drinking this Cup and going to the Cross?"

"OK Give Me the Cup, it needs to be done."

Nehemiah didn't wait until he was elected or promoted. He Led right then and there because it needed to be done. He said,

"OK give me the Cup, it needs to be done."

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!"
Zig Zigler

The Team knew how much Nehemiah cared by his willingness to be the Cup Bearer and Take Responsibility.

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

The Team responded to his Leadership and Re-Built the Walls of the Nation in the in just 52 days because Nehemiah said,

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

Do you have 52 days until your next Season? It can be done! It's Possible!
Take Responsibility and say,

"Give me the Cup, It needs to be done."

Check out what another Cup Bearer named Bear Bryant Head Coach University of Alabama said:

"If anything goes Bad, I did it. If anything goes Semi-Good, We did it. If anything goes Real Good, You did it. That's all it takes to get People to Win football games."

"When the Team knows their Leader is willing to take all the Blame and is Responsible for anything that goes Wrong the Team will Run through Walls."

Bear Bryant knew this valuable secret and look at the results:

6 National Championships (1961, 1964–1965, 1973, 1978–1979)

Our Team is:

Family, Parents, Husband, Wife, Peers, Teammates, Business Associates, ect....

What if we take Responsibility and say:

"Give me the Cup, it needs to be done."

Now Just Go! Win the Day!

Passion "May they yearn, even faint, for the courts of the Lord; crying out for the living God..."
-- Psalm 84:2

Time to Rebuild Friday, March 11th, 2011
READY:  "They said to me, 'The survivors in the province, who returned from the exile, are in great trouble and disgrace. Jerusalem's wall has been broken down, and its gates have been burned down.'" -Nehemiah 1:3

SET:  Every once in a while you read a positive story about coaching. I particularly like examples of the coach who goes back home to his or her alma mater to rebuild a struggling program.

These coaches not only have a passion for their home schools, but also a plan to put the schools back on the map. It may take time to rebuild, but for the Christian coach, it will also take something else: prayer, and a lot of it.

Nehemiah was a man of similar focus. What do we know about him? If you read his story in the Old Testament, you'll find that he was not a contractor, but a cupbearer.

He worked for the king who put out a decree that no one would rebuild Jerusalem's walls. Nehemiah had much at stake, but he knew he had to act. The town of his family was in ruins, and he knew he had to do something about it!
Nehemiah had a passion (his people in Jerusalem), a plan (to rebuild the wall) and a prayer, many of which are recorded in the Bible.

Nehemiah understood one thing well: rebuilding anything in life required prayer and a plan to get the job done. We know by reading his book that it took only 52 days to rebuild the wall, but it was not an easy task.

Maybe you have a wall (sin/struggle) in your life that needs to be rebuilt or restored. Do you have a passion to see it changed? Do you have a plan to make it happen? Are you committed to prayer--even if you have to pray every day for 52 or more days?

Today, I want to challenge you to do just that: get on your knees and pray that God would move and rebuild the "walls" in your life that seem so big. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.

Fw: Og Mandino

Special Team:

Here is a great quote from Og Mandino. I read Og's Book "The World's Greatest Salesman" when I graduated from Long Beach State University.

This book helped direct my life and my dreams to be the best I could be each and every day - To Win the Day!!!

Here he tells us to do the opposite of our negative emotions. Turn the Negative Recorder off and Turn on Jesus Christ.

One Thing: add the words "To God" after each sentence. Og would like this.

Own this Play!!!

If I feel depressed I will sing.

If I feel sad I will laugh.

If I feel ill I will double my labor.

If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.

If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.

If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.

If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.

If I feel incompetent I will think of past success.

If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.

Today I will be the master of my emotions.

Fw: Impact Play: 'Time to Rebuild'

Team:

Today's Coach is Jere Johnson from FCA Chicago. Today's Offensive Coordinator is Nehemiah. From the Book of Nehemiah.

Sometimes in the Seasons of Life it is time to Rebuild. It is time to Re-establish our Goals and Purpose for our Team.

Nehemiah was a Great Leader but wasn't in the Position to Lead until now. He was the Cup Bearer. He was a Servant. He tasted the Kings Cup first before the King drank to make sure the drink wasn't poisoned.

How would you like to have that Job?

But think about it at some point in our life we have all "tasted the cup" for someone else to make sure it wasn't poisoned.

Maybe you Stepped up and Protected someone from false accusations or from being wiped out by a Blitzing Linebacker.

When I played Running Back my job when we passed was to check if their was a blitzing linebacker first then swing for an outlet. My first job was to protect the Quarterback from getting Sacked. In another words I was the Cup Bearer for the QB.

The point is someone has to be willing to drink the cup and check for Poison.

Nehemiah stepped up and was the Cup Bearer to protect the King and now is going to Lead the Rebuilding of a Nation.

Jesus is the Cup Bearer that dealt with the Poison of Sin and Rebuilds our Broken Lives.

When Jesus was in the garden the night before he got Murdered he said:

"Abba, Father," He cried out, "everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Mark 14:36

Jesus became our Cup Bearer so we could Win!

When you are the Cup Bearer and take the Poison for others so the Team Wins.

What if we humbled ourselves and were the Cup Bearer's for our broken teams, families and relationships?

Israel Won because a Servant Nehemiah stepped out and Led the Nation right from where he was.

He didn't wait till he was elected or promoted. He Led right then and there because it needed to be done.

"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!"
Zig Zigler

The Team knew how much Nehemiah cared by his willingness to be the Cup Bearer.

The Team responded to this Leadership and Re-Built the Walls of the Nation in the off season in just 52 days.

Here is the Attitude another Cup Bearer named Bear Bryant said:

When the Team knows their Leader cares by example and service and is willing to take all the blame for anything that goes wrong they will Run through a Wall for the Leader.

This was Nehemiah, Jesus, Bear Bryant and Now You.

In other words when you are the Cup Bearer and take the Heat for your team as a coach or a player the team will respond and give everything they have for the Cause.

Bear Bryant knew this valuable secret and look at the results.

Fw: Impact Play: “The Spotter”

Team:

Today's Coach is Steve Satake with FCA in Boise, Idaho. Today's Quarterback is the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus was with His Team He was the Leader and Team Captain. One day He told them He was going to be betrayed and Crucified on the Cross.

His Team was worried. They thought "oh no what are we going to do? It's over! If our Leader is taken out how do we survive?"

Have you ever been in a game and the QB or best Defensive Player gets injured and is taken out of the game?

Jesus knew what they were thinking and used this opportunity to show them how the Omnipresent Holy Spirit is going to be in each one of them giving them power to overcome and endure for a greater Cause.

"the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything. He will remind you of everything that I have ever told you." John 14:26

The Holy Spirit has our back. He is right there with us to help us.

In Zechariah 4:6 Zerebebel was overwhelmed with the project of building the Temple and God told him,

"This is the word the LORD spoke to Zerubbabel: You won't [succeed] by might or by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Armies."
Zech 4:6

Rely on the Holy Spirit in your Life.

"But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power ... " Acts 1:8

"Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Eph 3:20

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals."- Henry Ford

The Holy Spirit keeps you Focused on the Right things. The Holy Spirit gives you the confidence to keep your head in the game and think straight.

"The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in a person's determination."
Tommy Lasorda Manager LA Dodgers

Listen to the Holy Spirit today! He wants to give you the Confidence and Determination to take you to the Championship!

Now Just Go! Win the Day!

The Spotter Thursday, March 10th, 2011

READY:  "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit—the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you." -John 14:26

SET:  Weight lifters often use spotters to help them stay safe during workouts and get maximum results. In your own experience, have you ever done a bench press workout without a spotter? I have. And when I tried it, my workout was lack luster.

I couldn't work out as intensely as I could have if I'd known I had someone there. When I bench press, I'm so much more effective when I have a spotter to encourage me and offer help if I need it. When I get tired, my spotter speaks encouraging words or helps me lift, and he provides just enough help so that I can finish that last rep or two.

He really helps me have a great workout instead of just a good workout.

In life, God also gave us a Spotter: the Holy Spirit. In John 14:26, Jesus said that He was sending a Counselor to us in His absence.

The Holy Spirit showed up in Acts 2 when the Apostles had locked themselves in a room for fear of the Jews. The Apostles were afraid, powerless and confused as to what to do next.

But God's promised Spotter gave them the power to do miracles in the name of Jesus.

The Christians in that room had the knowledge and will to teach the good news, but they needed help. The Holy Spirit gave them courage, boldness and wisdom to preach the gospel at full strength.

They healed the sick and spoke the truth of Christ with authority. The Holy Spirit gave them the power to do their very best for God.

The great news is that God's Spotter—the Holy Spirit—is here for us today, as well. All we need to do is seek Him and listen for Him.

He will encourage us and guide us as we walk through the day's challenges. If we are diligent in seeking Him, our walk with Jesus will be strong, and we will have wisdom and discernment for the challenges we face each day as a Christ follower.

He will be there to encourage us, keep us strong, and even make us stronger in Christ.

Just like that person who stands behind the bench press waiting to help us become stronger physically, the Holy Spirit is behind us to help strengthen us spiritually and provide encouragement, wisdom and power.

Today, don't go to the "bench" alone. Your Heavenly Father has given you the ultimate Spotter in the form of His Holy Spirit. Let Him help make you as strong as you were meant to be!
