Leaders Prepare the Next Generation

Team:

Today David is giving his son Solomon some great advice.

"Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God. Begin to Build the Sanctuary of the Lord God, so that you may bring the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord and the sacred articles belonging to God into the Temple that will be built for the Name of the Lord."
1Chronicles 22:19

Devote your Heart to Seek.

Begin to Build the Sanctuary.

Bring the Ark of the Covenant.

This is Great advice for us also. In our Spiritual Life we have an opportunity to Prepare our Hearts to Build and Bring our Game to the Lord.

Leaders Prepare the Next Generation.

Leaders Expect a Surprise Visit

Team:

Have you ever been Visited by God? We all have. In fact the Bible says He stands at the door and knocks wanting to come into our Lives.

He won't come in though until He is invited. After His initial visit He checks up on us to see how things are going so He can help us.

David was Visited by God and this is what God found:

"I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him" (Psalm 89:20).

Wow! What a great way to be found by God. Especially when it was a "Surprise Visit."

David was found with the oil that God anointed him with. The oil that Samuel poured on Him when God Anointed David to be King of Israel.

The Oil represents the Holy Spirit. When God visits us will we found with the Holy Oil God Anointed us with?

This Holy Oil gave David the Power to run a Kingdom and the Humility to tend sheep for his father Jesse.

God has a Great Plan for us and will visit us throughout the day. Will He find us with "His Holy Oil He Anointed us with?"

A Great Leader always expects God to show up on a Surprise Visit.

Remember, "We are all 360 Leaders."

Leaders know God is in Control

Team:

Do you ever feel like you are all alone?

In 2 Kings 6 God shows us we are not alone. No matter what circumstance we are facing "God is in this Place."

The Enemy was invading and the Servant of Elisha was frightened.

Sometimes the situations and circumstances seem overwhelming and we feel all alone.

Remember Jacob said, "God is in this place and I didn't know it."

Here is another reminder that God is with us. Here Elisha prays that the eyes of his servant would be open to the invisible spiritual realm.

"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master, how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
2 Kings 6:15-17

A few years later King Hezekiah was fearing that he would lose his Kingdom to Sennacherib's Assyrian Empire.

God assured Hezekiah that He would take take control of the situation.

Sometimes in life we have to pray that God just takes over. When we do this we realize how Powerful He is. The Word says "He is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond any thing we can ask, think or imagine." Eph 3:20

One Angel wiped out Sennacherib's (701 B.C.) entire Assyrian army of over 185,000. (By the way this is verified by secular history books and archaeology)
2 Kings 18:1-19; Isaiah 36-39

If One Angel can wipe out 185,000 in one night then what can God do for us? When Hezekiah woke up the Victory was already Won!

The same is true for us. When we wake up the Victory will already be Won!

Remember the Bible says, "Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the World."

God is totally in Control of everything. We are not alone "God is in this Place."

A Great Leader will focus on God and not the situation.

Leaders are Humble

Team:

Today David finds out the hard way what Pride can do to someone and how it affects others.

David has had a lot of success. He was leading Israel to become the Greatest Power in the world. He went from the unknown sheppard boy in Jesse's house to the most powerful king ever.

David let the fame lift up his ego and pride. David numbered the people to find out how great he has become.

Wealth, Fame and Power can cause us all to let our guard down and become complacent with our relationship with God.

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18

"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

Is Pride always bad?
No, as long as it is Pride in what God has done for us.

Fw: Leaders Have a Cause

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook David realizes how fortunate he is to be honored with the opportunity to execute God's Plan for Israel. 1 CHRONICLES 16:37-18:17

When David was just a Sheppard boy he Challenged everyone when he saw that everyone was afraid of Goliath.

David said, "is there no Cause in Israel."
David went on to beat Goliath.

Leaders have a Cause.

One Cause David had was to Build a House for God. Nathan the prophet said, "do all that is in your heart."

The Lord said, " I appreciate your heart David but I'm going to build a House for you."

In the same way we have a Cause. We want to build a House for God.

We want to build a Family, a Business, a Team ect..

The Lord says, "I will Build it for you."

God has put these Causes in our Heart. Now he wants to perform His Work through us.

"Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain." Psalm 127:1

Leaders allow God to Work through them.

Fw: Leaders Prioritize

Team:

Today in the One Year Playbook we see David setting up Priorities for the Nation.
1 Chronicles 15:1-16:36

Leaders set Priorities for the Team or Organization.

The first thing David did was Prioritize the importance of having God first in the lives of the people. He set up the Tabernacle or place for the people to worship God.

He delegated the responsibility of the Tabernacle to the Levites. These are the Priests who would read the Word of God daily to the People. (They went over the Playbook)

Priority #1: Start each day reading the Word of God.

Jesus said, "seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things will be added unto you." Matt 6:33

David also Prioritized Worship. He knew how much God loves our Worship. When we worship God through music we get Peace and Strength. Through Song and Prayer we enter into the presence of God.
The Lord inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3).

Priority #2: Enter God's Presence through Worship and Prayer daily.

"In Job 38, God says that as the foundations of the earth were being laid, the angels were singing songs. In other words, He does His best work with background music." Jon Courson

Leaders Prioritize.

By setting the right Priorities your team will be ready to "Win the Day."

Remember, "We are all 360 Leaders."

Fw: Leaders Have a Plan of Action

Team:

In today's One Year Playbook we learn that David had a Plan of Action.
1 CHRONICLES 12:19-14:17

David went to all the Tribes of Israel and gained their support. These Tribes were the initial offspring of Jacob. They were all strategically placed by Joshua throughout the Promise Land of Israel for a purpose.
Throughout the years the Tribes started fighting each other. This brought separation. David was from the Tribe of Judah. He knew God wanted to unite the 12 Tribes to make Israel strong again.

David (From the Tribe of Judah) went to all the Tribes but made a special trip to the Tribe of Benjamin. David wanted to Clear up any misunderstandings about the death of Saul who was from the Tribe of Benjamin. 1 Samuel 9:1-2

David was prepared for this task and the people were Prepared to receive David because David was Prepared to be Prepared.

"When we are Prepared to be Prepared people are Prepared to receive us."

You see before David was King he won great battles for Israel and he re-established relationships with all 12 Tribes.

He knew God wanted to Unite the Country again. So when David took over Leadership he rallied everyone together. The first thing David did was bring back the Ark of God. He wanted God to be the Center of the Camp. David set up the Priorities.

Leaders Have a Plan of Action.

Leaders take Initiative.

Leaders Set Priorities - God in the Center.
Leaders are Prepared to be Prepared.
