WHO CAN YOU DEPEND ON?

WHO CAN YOU DEPEND ON?

The following message comes from a Grandfather:

THE POTTER'S HOUSE

I was reading in Jeremiah the other day about the "Potters House" and it brought to mind the times that I had subbed in the pottery classes at Highschool.

The first thing I notice when entering a pottery classroom is a big mound of clay in one end of the room.

Next is the row or two of work tables with rotating table tops and scrap tubs. At the end of the room there are holding racks for pottery waiting to be transformed in to a resilient work of art.

When the students come in, (I'll call them Potters), they pick up the teachers pottery plan, scoop up a gob of clay, slap the clay onto the rotating work table and begin the process of transforming the clay into a work of art.

Sometimes during the transforming process, things will go haywire and the potter will need to start over. That's when the potter gets a second chance to become a skilled craftsman and the clay gets a second chance to become a prized work of art.

We all go through the Potters house. For most, the potter, our Mom & Dad, will only need to make minor adjustments to keep the clay (us) on the Teachers' Pottery Plan (the Bible). But sometimes the potter and the clay will need a second chance.

I have had my share of "second chances." My biggest mistake was not taking High School seriously.

After I graduated, I reported for active duty in the Navy. My boss was an Annapolis Graduate. He showed me my bedroom, three decks below the main deck. I could have any empty bunk (three high) that was not taken. He also mentioned I would have 150 roommates.

Once I was unpacked I got to chat with him in his private stateroom three decks above the main deck. I was 18 and he was 20. He took High School very seriously.

WHO CAN YOU DEPEND ON?

That's when I decided to get serious with education so I would never again have to sleep with 150 drunken sailor roommates.

My first second chance came four years later when I was given an opportunity to attend West Coast University (a Second Chance University).

For the next twelve years, while working fulltime and helping your grandma raise your Dad, Uncle and Aunt , I took education very seriously.

I overhear you were given a second chance a week or so ago!

WHO CAN YOU DEPEND ON?

It doesn't matter how far you fall, or how hard you land. The only thing that matters now is how high you bounce. I am confident you can bounce over the highest challenge that you may face.
