GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY

Have you ever wanted something so bad that all you did was think about it over and over?

Maybe it was a car or a ski boat?

After a while the newness wore off. The car wasn't as great as you thought. The ski boat keeps breaking down.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

"How the gold has lost its luster, the fine gold become dull! The sacred gems are scattered at the head of every street." Lamentations 4:1

Sometimes our relationship with God can lose that excitement of when we first found God. After a while complacency sets in and we take God for granted.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

When this happens we are very vulnerable. Complacency is a tough opponent.

So how do we defeat complacency? We keep reading the word every morning and allow God to keep working in our lives.

GREAT LEADERS RECOGNIZE COMPLACENCY!

Another thing we can do to keep the excitement going and not get complacent is to mentor new believers.

Take someone under your wing and help them accomplish their goals in the Lord.

"But if you fail to do this, you will be sinning against the LORD; and you may be sure that your sin will find you out."
Numbers 32:20-23

Today in the One Year Playbook we get clarification of God's Faithfulness.

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

A lot of times we think God is out to get us after we sin. We think that God is a fault finder.

God is not a Fault Finder. God Loves to Forgive when we ask.

Jon Courson say's, "God doesn't say Aha! I'm going to expose that sin and embarrass you. That is not the nature of the Father. No it is sin itself that will come to fruition."

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

"Every time I sin, that sin will sooner or later track me down, find me out, and humiliate me. But it's not God doing this. Rather, it's the work of the Enemy to not only seduce us into sin, but to expose and humiliate us through it."

God loves us and wants the best for us. When we allow the Enemy to Condemn us we are falling into his trap. First he causes us to do the sin then he beats us up after we have done it. Then we are trapped in a sticky web with no escape.

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

Here is a great verse to think about the next time we think God is condemning us.

"Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22

Our own sin will find us out and the enemy will try to destroy us. When we call on God He will Find us, Rescue us and have Compassion on us if we humble ourselves and ask Him to do so.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

GREAT LEADERS HAVE GRACE!

However if we ignore the Lord, sin will destroy us. Now is that God's fault? We shouldn't blame it on God. It is the sin that found us out.

The Good News is the Lord is trying to Rescue us from ourselves.

God's Grace is "Getting something we don't deserve.". Jesus will forgive us and give us a New Beginning If we turn 180 degrees and follow Him.

Jesus said that He came to seek and save those that are lost. When we are found out by our sin and trapped by the Enemy He will seek us, find us and save us if we are willing to let Him save us.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Have you ever been bumbed out because of some mistakes you have made?

All of us have regretted decisions we have made.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Today in the One Year Playbook we learn what happens when we continue to Ignore God.

"How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave." Lamentations 1:1

"Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The LORD has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe." Lamentations 1:5

This is referring to Judah and how the Nation once ruled the world. Now they are enslaved again like they were in Egypt many years ago.

This can also apply to the USA.

Most importantly it applies to us as individuals. God did an Incredible Work in our lives and we were at the top of the world. We were praising God every moment of the day.

When we received Christ we were Freed from the slavery and the bondage of sin. We were free of bitterness and regret. We stopped second guessing ourselves because we knew were in God's Will. We lived a Life of Confidence because our Confidence was in the Lord.

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

Just like Israel and Judah we gradually stopped seeking God and were not Ready for His Word to be performed in our lives.

As a result we have become enslaved to addictions, emotions, depression, self doubt ect... and have passed it on to the Next Generation.

Now we are depressed and feel like we have no hope.

So what do we doer?

GREAT LEADERS LEAD A COMEBACK!

"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

- Humble
- Pray
- Seek God's Face
- Turn 180 degrees

Yes, we can come back and Win! When we Win on God's terms we will build a deep foundation for current and future generations.

What does it mean to be Ready?

Here Jeremiah says God is Ready to perform His Word.

GREAT LEADERS ARE READY!

Jeremiah's prophecy opens with God saying, "I am ready to perform My Word" and it closes with evidence that God did what He said He would do.

Friends, we need to be Ready when God is Ready to Perform His Word in our lives.

Are we Ready?

Is our Nation Ready?

Is our City Ready?

Is our Friends Ready?

Is our Family Ready?

Are the children Ready?

Am I Ready?

Try a Fire Drill at home and see who is ready. Then compare the Fire Drill to always being Ready.

The Word tells us to be ready in season and out of season... 2 Timothy 4:2

This is Great Advice for our spiritual lives as well as our daily goals in school, business, sports ect...

GREAT LEADERS ARE READY!

You never know when God is going to be Ready to perform His Great Word in our lives.

Did you know the Word is more Powerful than a double edged sword? The Word is Powerful.

Do you want a Powerful Life?

We always need to be Ready for the Power of His Word in our lives.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Do you ever feel sluggish? Sometimes when the weekend gets here we hit a wall and crash.

Why do we get sluggish? After a football game we are physically exhausted. After a work/school week we are mentally exhausted.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

Sometimes a disappointment will make us sluggish. Sometimes it is a relationship in turmoil.

The wheels in our head start spinning out of control. We stay in bed and don't want to get up because we fear the unknown.

Here Solomon recognizes the excuses people make for not pushing ahead to accomplish their goals.

"A sluggard says, "There's a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!" As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed."
Proverbs 26:13-14

GREAT LEADERS FIND AWAY!

It looks like Solomon is putting down the sluggard and wants us to be aware of becoming complacent and lazy.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

However maybe the cause associated with some "sluggards" is depression.

When we hurt we become depressed. When we become depressed we don't want to go outside and face the world. It is easier to just roll over.

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

So how do we get out of depression and get back in the game?

One way is to donate our time to serving others. Another way is to get busy. Have a goal and a purpose. Jer 29:11

John said, "He must increase and I must decrease."

"Enoch walked with God and Enoch was not for God raptured him."

Enoch realized he was not and put the Lord first in his life. God took him right where he was.

Here is what Jesus and Isaiah had to say:

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,Because he trusts in You." Isaiah 26:3

GREAT LEADERS FIND A WAY!

"The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still"(Exodus 14:14, NIV)

Mentally be Still and let God work out the details. Our job is to show up for work and do our best then commit the rest.
