WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Team:

What do you Trust in?

How many times have you been in distress with nowhere to turn?

How many times have you felt like you are on a Treadmill running for your life but going nowhere?

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

How many times have you been Running from your past only to have your past habits creep in again?

You are not alone! The enemy tries to pull us down from behind so we remember the past defeats in our lives.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Most of the time the enemy catches us by surprise. For me it is when I wake up in the morning. I get BOMBED with GUILT and FAILURES of the past.

That is why I grab my Iphone and read the One Year Bible daily. This is the first thing I do while I am still in bed and the last thing I do before going to sleep.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

A couple of days ago in the One Year Bible David is Running on a Treadmill for his life. Saul was very jealous of David and wanted to kill him.

David was running and running and running.... To escape!

Do you ever feel that way in your mind?

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Do you ever feel the world is overwhelming and you are trying to escape?

When David was hiding deep into the night he found a hiding place behind a Rock!

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

He probably remembered what his great ancestor Jacob did when he was running and running and running... with no Purpose or Plan.

Jacob found a Rock and went to sleep. God gave him a Vision of a ladder that reached to Heaven. He saw angels going up and down the ladder.

Then God encouraged Jacob and gave him a Vision of his future. That Vision gave Jacob the Power to Continue.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

David realized it all started with the Rock.
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me."

"I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise and have been saved from my enemies." 2 Samuel 22: 3-5

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Friends, the enemy tries to stop our Progress. The enemy is jealous of us! The enemy knows God has Great Plans for us so he does everything he can to stop us.

Peter knows a lot about being tricked. Remember, Jesus told Peter that Satan wanted to destroy him. Jesus told him that Satan has asked for Peter by name.

Peter could have said, "Lord I didn't sign up for this. I want to go back to fishing. I was pretty good at fishing."

Peter could have done that but he didn't.
Instead, Peter took the very thing he was famous for and gave it to God! He knew times would get tough just like they were tough at sea many times.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Peter made a few mistakes but learned from those mistakes to become an INCREDIBLE LEADER for God.

When Peter went back to his former life before he knew Christ he felt like a failure.

Have you ever felt like a failure?

Sometimes we have all the right intentions and give it our best but we slip and fail. The Bible says, "in my weakness God is made Strong!"

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Let's face it, all of us make mistakes! All of us fall short. But God can Fix It All!!

Look at how our Carpenter Friend encourages us. Peter was torn apart like many of us are.

You may have made a mistake or you may be the victim of a mistake. No matter what, our God of Peace can help you move on.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

The enemy wants us to keep all that bitterness and guilt. The enemy wants the victim to carry all that hate and bitterness.

Why? Because it takes us out of the Game. Don't let it happen!

"I only concentrate on things I can control." John Robinson Head Coach Los Angeles Rams

Robinson was saying, "why should I weigh myself down with thoughts and anxiety of things I can't do anything about?

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

After Jesus arose from the dead, He took Peter out to Breakfast and Encouraged him to live for the Eternal and to forget the past failures. He told Peter he was going to be a Head Coach and Win a lot of games.

"Get back in the Game Peter!!!"

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

Jesus told Peter earlier that his name was Petros or little Rock. Jesus went on to say He was the Big Rock that He will build His Church on.

In other words we need to rely on the Rock that David and Jacob was talking about.

Part of David's life was like Running on a Treadmill. Part of Jacob's life was Running from his past. Peter's also lived a life full of Mistakes and Running from his past.

All of them had one thing in common:

The Rock was where the answers of life come from.

WHAT IS YOUR ROCK?

How about You? What is your Rock?

ETERNITY STARTS NOW!

Just Go!

Rick
