Have you ever heard your mom or dad say,
"Close the door all the way!"
"Be sure to lock up!"
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
"An open mind is all very well in its way, but it ought not to be so open that there is no keeping anything in or out of it. It should be capable of shutting its doors sometimes, or it may be found a little drafty." --
This quote shows us we need to be Coachable and Willing to Learn.
Are we supposed to open the doors of our mind to everything though?
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
In 2 Chronicles 14-16 Asa opened the door of his mind to being Coachable early in life but closed the door on God later on in life.
Early on Asa was totally open to the Prophet helping him. Asa was humble and realized he needed God's help.
Asa was relying on God through the Prophet in the same way we need to rely on God through the Holy Spirit.
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
The Prophets in the Old Testament were instructed by God to mentor the Leaders of Israel.
Today you and I have the Holy Spirit to Mentor us and Guide us.
Asa was very humble early in life but got puffed up with pride later in life.
In the first 10 years of Asa's life he relied on the Lord for everything. At this time Asa and Judah had Peace from their enemies.
Their eyes were on God!
As Asa got older he took his eyes off of God. 2 Chron 16:9
When Asa took his eyes off of God he became defensive and uncoachable!
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
"Then the Eyes of God had to Search for someone else to Strengthen those whose Hearts were fully Committed to Him."
2 Chron 16:9
Asa turned down the advice of the Prophets and actually got mad at them. Asa opened the door to Ben Hadad but closed the door to God.
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
Friends, when our Eyes are on God the doors of our Minds are Protected. This gives us Confidence with all of our decisions.
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
It is when we are not looking at God that the enemy uses the opportunity to open the Door. The enemy gets in and begins working in our minds.
We need to Close The Door to the Draft of Wind that causes Uncertainty, Frustration, Confusion ect..
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
Sometimes, like in Asa's case, that Draft of Wind seems like a good thing but in the end it will infect us with a disease.
Asa let the door of his mind be open to alternative plans when it should have been closed and only open to God's Plans.
Asa closed his mind to the Prophet when he should have embraced the Prophet.
It was when he took the his eyes off of God that the door began to creep open.
In the end Asa died of Diabetic Gangrenous Foot disease. The option was to cut his feet off or die of gangrene.
When we take our eyes off of God and open the door to the enemy it always affects our Walk with God.
We are affected spiritually In the same way Asa's physical feet were diseased.
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
When we take our eyes off of God and let the door creep open we are in a dangerous situation. Self Reliance and Pride caused Asa to take his eyes off of the Lord.
When Asa took his eyes off of God the nation of Judah followed. As a Leader of our Homes and Peer Groups we need take this very seriously.
When Asa was young he took an Offensive Approach and Opened the Door to the Fresh Wind and Fire of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said, "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends." Rev 3:20
When was Asa at his Best? When he was allowing God to Rule in his life over every decision he made.
When are we at our Best? When we open the door to God and close it tight from the Wind.
CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY! DON'T LET ANYTHING CREEP IN!
God wants to be your friend. Open the door of your mind and life to Him today.
When you fix your eyes on Him he will give you Peace.
Just Go! Win the Day
Rick
