Have you ever been in a situation when you knew a storm was coming?
It might be a literal storm like a hurricane. It could be related to a job, a financial situation or any number of things.
Whatever it is the time has finally come for the storm to hit.
This is not a good feeling is it?
GREAT LEADERS PREPARE FOR THE STORM
This is what was happening in Judah.
The Leaders of the Judah have turned their back on God.
"Listen! The report is coming—
a great commotion from the land of the north! It will make the towns of Judah desolate, a haunt of jackals."
Jeremiah's Prayer
"LORD, I know that people's lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Discipline me, LORD, but only in due measure— not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing."
JEREMIAH 10:1-11:23
Notice Jeremiah isn't asking God to just sweep it under the carpet. Jeremiah is Standing in the Gap acknowledging the sin and saying, "yes we need discipline so it doesn't happen again."
Also, Jeremiah doesn't offer any excuses.
He says, "discipline me! I'm the Leader. I'm Responsible for the situation we are in. Please step in and help us so we can get back in the game."
Just like Jeremiah we should also stand in the Gap for our Team.
No matter where we are in our circle of Influence all of us are Leaders. It doesn't matter if we are the oldest in the family or the youngest all of us have Influence. The same holds true for your peer groups at school, on the Job, on the team ect...
Friends, the key to Jeremiah's Leadership was his prayer life. Jeremiah walked and talked with God each and everyday on behalf of the nation.
